Yes, Rod Price has been sadly mostly forgotten, he was a great slide player, another one is Ritchie Blackmore.

Ken Greer? I know him only from a few Red Rider songs and am not in the mood to dig through albums to check, but my impression is that he has played slide guitar well and often.

Jimmy Nalls from Sea Level. I saw Sea Level twice in the Boston area and Jimmy Nalls was incredible as was the entire group.

    Rainer Ptacek.

To come over this side of the Atlantic for a moment, Martin Simpson plays a mean slide.

Nice article on him in the new issue of Guitar Player, where he shows up quite often.

Actually the mention of Kelly Joe Phelps (who is an under-rated songwriter, I reckon) reminds me to throw in a local lad, who I first came across supporting Mr Phelps in Newcastle over a decade ago: John/Jonny (he's used both on different albums) Dickinson. In some respects he reminds me of Martin Simpson, in that he uses both blues and British folk music as a starting point (actually, seeing him live one time he used some slack tuned stylings on a couple of numbers).

& was there a story that Jim Morrison heard Robby Krieger playing slide around the time of the 1st lp and demanded it was put on all their songs? Thankfully he didn't get his way.

Not sure what the definition of "Forgotten" is but Johnny Winter seems to be forgotten as I rarely see him mentioned on forums or Best Guitarist lists. Very underrated IMHO

While Duane Allman gets all the praise Dicky Betts had to teach himself slide after Duane died and is a good slide player. I also think Warren Haynes is an amazing slide player who started in Dickie Bett's solo band before he joined the Allman Bros and started Govt Mule.
