I found Get Crazy (cult rock-musical from 1983) for free on youtube.....crazy story behind it where the backers banked on it failing and made sure it failed (ala springtime for hitler) its a shame, its a great movie (imo) directed bu allan arkush the director of rock and roll high school. starring Malcolm McDowell, Lou Reed.... good stuff

what else is out there, obscure movies from the 60's, 70's, 80's

1960's Sci-Fi Classic (with an opening stolen many times by everyone from The Walking Dead to 28 Days later)

Back in the early 1970s, this movie was the highest-rated made-for-TV movie ever. It's only an hour and a quarter, but it's an absolute little gem! The Night Stalker.

And Killdozer is another little gem well worth devoting about an hour and a quarter to!

    "killdozer" (1974 best quality)

And just for the hell of it, Duel another absolute gem!

    Duel 1971 Full Movie HQ

I've been downloading made for TV movies like crazy from there. Unfortunately, some dopes take 4x3 video and stretch and distort it to 16x9 so when you play it, it looks like a square box with black all around it.

Maybe a third or so of the TV movies made ever came out on VHS and probably fewer than 5% have ever come out on DVD. The majority of them, especially those produced by Universal, ceased to even be available for broadcast when stations chucked out their film chains as they were never transferred to videotape format.

  17. Just checked my YouTube movie folder and apparently a bunch of movies I saved were deleted. :sigh:

I love that I can find the most random movie on there sometimes. Especially the classic made for TV and some after school specials.

    ABC Movie Of The Week:

"Failing of Raymond" with Dean Stockwell
    "When Michael Calls"

Checked YouTube and they have them but the picture quality is pretty bad. Not worth streaming and much less downloading.

Absolutely loved this flick as a teen in the 80s... McDowell is awesome as Reggie Wanker... and John Densmore has a bit role as well... not on DVD so I had to YouTube it last winter...

Great movie. I rented the VHS quite a bit in the '80s, and have the soundtrack LP. Comcast had the film "on demand" several years, so I have it on DVD-R.
