Who actually wrote this song, was it Tom Hanks or someone else?

Everytime I watch this movie I can't help that think what a great song that never really got the attention it deserved IMHO.

    Dave,
That's one of my favorite movies!...sure brings me back! WOW! My Son and I must have watched it 20 times! Tom Hanks didn't write that song, he wrote some of the other tunes played throught the movie, not any of the Wonders songs though. Just a PERFECT movie about a PERFECT subject!

Yeah, AMG is an absolute goldmine for music information. You can seriously spend hours at that site without even realizing it. I just got a friend hooked on that site, too! Personally, I'd seriously estimate that I probably gained about 75% of my music trivia knowledge from there, the other quarter being from TV, magazines, etc.

Music has been a part of my life since the early 60's...been learning ever since. The CDDB isn't bad either...The internet is chock full of great sites...always looking for more. The quest never ends

    Thanks guys! :righton:

Now for the harder question....who actually performed the song, was it the actors in the movie calling themselves "The Wonders" or what?

Mike Viola sang the lead vocals...I read that in the liner notes of the soundtrack Cee dee which is not close at hand! Here's the link for Mike....

I agree that it's a great site but beware..
They are notorious for putting wrong info in the bios.

I wish they'd correct my entry. They mis-credited me for several things and left some important things off. I keep e-mailing them but have yet to see any responses. It's kind of like an online resume.

I agree, The obscure band info is pretty good...Two of my Favorites..."The Smoke" (US Band) and "The Serpent Power" were covered well amongst many others.

Perhaps a more direct approach Jamie, like giving them a phone call.

You too? It's also one of my favorites, and I watch it a lot! I have the soundtrack CD but never got around to buying the Playtone 45 single. Yup, it exists!

Would you believe the good times, great oldies oldies station actually plays it? I can only think that some twentysomething programmer actually thinks it is a real oldie!

Like the stoner kids that banged their heads to the Spinal Tap albums?
Some people don't get it. How can you take a song called Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight seriously?

The 7" is frequent at ebay. I understand there's a 12" single, though. Now that's something to lust after!

You know, I never looked. I have my own listing! Granted, they credit me for one album while they list two that I'm on, but I'm not complaining!
