There is a great new Lennon tribute single that has just come out that is co produced by Alan Parsons
called "Johnny's Gone Away". It is a 100% analog recording that fuses together diferent Beatleisq styles
into an awesome single. Web site http://www.lennontribute.com Also more information on Alan's site

Interesting single very good. Tom Trefethen looks like an eccentric character and
great work as always by Alan Parsons.

Sounds very interesting - I'd like to hear it all.

The artwork for the single is a bit disturbing.

Not as disturbing as Yoko's Season Of Glass cover. :shake:

I just remembered that Tom Trefethen had put out a crazy artsy album in the 70s called
"Stupid Or Am I Great" It was actually a pretty good album.

Sorry, but I think it's awful.

This single is NOT for everybody. It's very out there just like Lennon's music. John would have
loved it. He wouldn't want a boring ordinary single released as a tribute. Also you can't tell
how it sounds from the sample you have to hear the whole song. I think Alan Parsons is a pretty good judge of songs. If he's involved you know it's good.

It's the lyrics I have a problem with. Too obvious.

This song will be performed tomorrow night in front of Capital Records in Hollywood.
A link to hear part of the song http://media1.dailybreeze.com/audiovideo/johnny.mp3
    Here are the lyrics.

I heard the news today, Johnny's gone away
With autograph and gun in hand
the catcher gone awry made his stand,
and aimed to be the world's most famous fan.
    They'd seen his face before,
then supersonic bullets tore life away.
There ain't nothin' you gun that can't be gunned.
More popular than God's own son, I can't imagine, so --
I only think of his days with the Ol' Fab Four,
Yeah, moppy tops, lots of Vox, the Ed Sullivan Shows.
I can't believe this is how we are willing to live.
Now all we need is love. Now all we need is love.
Now all we need is love ... and a bullet proof vest!
And a bullet proof nest ...
And a bullet proof desk ... oh yeah, and all the rest.
"I got blisters on my trigger fingers!!!"
Now I must apologize this Tribute's come undone,
I too have gone awry, I'm so confused --
We armor plate our limousines, pack our peace of mind is cosmolene,
    and we call these solutions.
Oh, but one might think our daughters and sons
mean less to us than our warm guns.
"And all we need is love!"
Now all we need is love. Now all we need is love ...
And a bullet proof vest! And all the rest, and all the rest.
He sang of love, peace, and hope, he sang to set us all free --
I can't believe this is all, all we are willing, all we are willing to be.
No, this is not the time just to let it be.
The word's not love, say the word responsibility.
Politicians, religion, man, if this is your best,
then we'll see Jesus return wearing a bullet proof vest ...
Hey Jesus, wear your bullet proof vest.

I'm tired of that glasses thing. Redundant. Can't they think of something else?

    Unspeakably lame.

And I always detest it when people make statements like, "John would love it" or "John would hate it." The only person who would know what John would have thought is dead. After all, wasn't his unpredictability part of his charm/talent/legend?

Again, those lyrics are puke inducing.

Those glasses in the illustration do not match the shape of glasses he was wearing that night...

I agree. It's no "Empty Garden" or "Late Great Johnny Ace". Those lyrics look like something a pre-schooler would come up with. :hurl:
