Great record stores in London?

I just recently arrived in London and would love some recommendations of great record stores to check out. Im into Jazz, Fusion, Prog Rock, Krautrock, Zeuhl, Canterbury Scene, Psych Rock, New Wave, Funk, Soul, Afrobeat, MPB, Tropicalia, Minimalism etc. Basically music from the 50's all the way to the 80's. I'd prefer stores that have used original/early pressings as opposed to new reissues.

I've already visited Rough Trade East and the Soho stores Sister Ray, Reckless Records and Sounds of the Universe. Any others I need to check out?

Try Cosmos as they carry and specialise in a lot of those genres. They're located at 324 Hackney Road in East London

Here's their Facebook page if you're on Facebook: Cosmos Records London

    Hi!

I've visited most of London stores apart from Flashback and Cosmos. Do they sell 70's classic/prog/folk rock in these stores?

    Thanks

I went to Flashback in Crouch End a few weeks ago, and scored 70's classic/prog/folk rock.
Along with Alan's, a great store.

I will visit Flashback Shoreditch and Islington, I hope it's good too !

I've been disappointed by Alan's store... I didn't find any records I was looking for and it seems to me it was not very cheap but this thread makes me want to try again :D

I also went to Flashback in Islington....didn't find much there.
    Alan's was good to me.
When it comes to used vinyl....you just never know what you're going to find on any given day.
Some days you walk out with a huge haul, some days you walk out with nothing.

That's true... I'm checking Google Maps right now and it could be fun to do Flashback Islington, Flashback Crouch Hill and then Alan's using the underground Northern line, seems possible... It could be fun :)

It's exactly what I did, but I started at Alan's and made my way back to the center of London.
The Northern Line to East Finchley and took the Bus to Alan's.

Yes, I may do it in the other way too actually. Alan's store is not so far from the station (around 10 mn walking), Flashback Crouch Hill needs 20 mn of walking from the Highgate station according to Google Maps but it's ok...

Thank you for your help :)

Can anyone suggest a good London vinyl store that carries '90s electonica such as Future Sound of London, Orb, Orbital, Aphex Twin et al? Also, Record Store Day UK vinyl titles? I was thinking Rough Trade in Brick Lane, but they don't sell much used.

    Preferably within underground zones 1-2.

    Thanks!

Only place I can think of would be Sister Ray in Soho on Berwick St. They definitely carry electronic music and the last time I was there they had a pretty good selection. Not sure about the split between used and new. Also Reckless Records, just down the street, would also carry stuff like that.

Just remembered, another two that would likely carry that genre, Sounds of the Universe and the Music Exchange. Again both on Berwisk St.

These guys Vinyl Records Specialists, London Soho Vinyl Music Records - Phonica Records - Latest Releases, Pre-Orders and Merchandise are just around the corner. They specialise in electronic music but IIRC they only sell new product.

Whether any of those stores actually what you want in stock is another story! Hard titles to find if you are looking for originals. But you probably already know that. :)

Thanks! Last time i was in that area, Tottenham Court Rd was all torn up and confusing, but I can brave it... I remember being impressed by Sister Ray, will check again. Also will be around Shoreditch...
