From the poll, the bass on Walk on the Wild Side stands out a whole bunch.

I don't often notice the bass line in a song but I eventually did for Nowhere Man by the Beatles.

I think Dark Side Of The Moon should have been Money. That very clever bass line makes the song interesting. Roger Waters wasn't all that much on bass, but he was clever with what he could do.

I liked "Another One Bites The Dust's" bass line even more the first time I heard it, when it was used on Chic's "Good Times."

Another One Bites The Dust. Song is based around that famous bass line and a drum beat.

From that list, I would say "My Generation". Apart from John Entwistle's incendiary, unaccompanied, bass solo, what he plays behind Daltrey's vocal in the verses really help drive the song along.

Another great song with a killer bass line (and bass intro) that isn't on this list, is "Badge" by Cream. Jack Bruce's wonderful bass lines are as important to the song as Eric Clapton's guitar. Maybe more so.

All the above choices works, another favorite is Wilson Pickett "Engine no. 9". Melodic bass line starting and making the whole song.

My favorite bass line is John McVie's riff in Fleetwood Mac's The Chain, when everything stops but that bass line, then the band kicks back in

Chris Squires bass play in "Siberian Khatru" is legendary, or need to be. It's 50% of the song.

#2 in the Philippines in 1968 - or was it the flip side that was the hit?

Who cares - GREAT bass line from Max Bennett!

    "Dream World" - The Monkees

Horace Silver "Song for My Father" bass line turned into Steely Dan "Rikki Don't Lose That Number".
