Cassettes can handle long side breakdowns as well so a good choice with this comp with you owning it on cassette first.

THE place to start for most people getting into George Jones' Epic Records heyday and a great chronicle for hard core fans.

BTW, for those who want the original Reprise comp on CD plus 5 additional tracks, they should get the 15 Greatest Hits CD on MCA. For digital, avoid anything that is not on any Universal imprint or licensed from Universal.

Donovan's Greatest Hits - Good remake versions of "Catch the Wind" and "Colours"
The Rascals Timepeace - "Beautiful Morning" was new, lacked "People Got to be Free" that would be released soon after. Nevertheless, it was the best way to listen to the Young Rascals.

The longer, full length Sunshine Superman, is worth the admission as well as well as many hits not on the studio albums. Later compilations may be more comprehensive, but nothing captures the peak of his powers like "Greatest Hits"

I prefer "Blue Morning" to "Dirty White Boy" as well, but that would (a) unbalance the hits package away from Head Games, and (b) DWB was the bigger hit and the first single off its album. It just had to be there.

This issue we're discussing also does raise another good aspect of Records: There is no padding, no non-hits or songs that could barely qualify as a hit by stretching the term nearly beyond recognition as you sometimes see. Every single song is a bona-fide hit with a capital H.

Yeah I wore this out back in the day. And finally ponied up the money to get the vinyl version later.

Albums like this one and Substance are essential because the studio albums don't tell the whole story.

KISS' Double Platinum: Many of the songs are remixes and thus it is a must for completists. And despite all the flack the remixes get, some of them (like "Hard Luck Woman") sound damn good.

Since the Kingston Trio have so many albums, a greatest hits compilation is essential for fans as well. Even if one isn't a fan, a compilation of their music is essential for the historical importance of their music and for a decent summary of the era, a comp of their work is essential.

There are singles on the Parrot US 1960s Engelbert Humperdinck albums not on the Decca UK albums (the Decca UK incarnations are what are in print on a CD as part of a Decca Albums boxed set). A comp is essential for those with the UK albums to get Am I That Easy To Forget, There Goes My Everything, etc. For those with the Parrot US albums, a comp is still useful for hearing his finest moments in one place. His Greatest Hits which came out in 1974 is nearly definitive in just 10 tracks for the Parrot/Decca era.
