I love watching surfing and surf movies from any era. I think maybe the all time best for all kinds of audiences might be... Step Into Liquid (2003)...

Oh yeah, that one wasn't bad at all, some real scenes instead of mostly someone with a straw hat and cigar hanging ten in front of a back projection!

I would definitely agree with "Riding Giants". Probably the best documentary ever filmed covering
the history of surf, and then showing extensive film of the then (2004) greats riding some of the
biggest waves I've ever seen, and the new methods they've come up with to catch these massive waves.

How about the 2016 thriller The Shallows, with Blake Lively playing a surfer? I didn't see it, but it got a pretty high Rotten Tomatoes score (78%).

I even have the fairly rare Japanese DVD with the original 1966 soundtrack (not the more common version with the re-recordings by the Sandals).

The soundtrack LP is BOSS too!

Endless Summer. For some reason, my old man thought that was a great flick. One of the few things we would watch together.
Close second is Step Into Liquid. Fantastic movie, gotta see it on your big screen TV, if not in the theater.

Endless Summer is more memorable than it objectively should be. It is rough and ready film making but also gets you into that zone of young guys just taking off on something fun, traveling the world and meeting umm new folks. It was very popular when it came out. For better or worse, no one would make this kind of film today and doing what the guys did would never be as care free.

I've heard something was coming since he died but I don't know of anything. He's been written about a lot because he was in most of the '60s beach movies.

Endless Summer II in the '90s was as close to a generation later follow up as you could ask for though.

Big Wednesday (1978) is another quality movie worth mentioning.

I keep meaning to find this surfsploitation movie "Follow Me" as I have the soundtrack LP and I have a few psychsploitation albums...

I thought Billabong Odyssey was pretty impressive.

Just saw The Shallows, not bad. A couple a nice surf scenes.
