    The actual name of the song is The Streetbeater. I posted the complete song in post #91 on page 4 if you want to hear it.

    The Charles Albertine composed Bandstand Boogie used as the theme for American Bandstand... the version by Les Elgart and his orchestra used from 1954 - 1969 when it was replaced by Barry Manilow's version. I believe the timeline is correct. The Elgart version is the one I'm highlighting here.

    Ooh ooh I got one... Car 54, Where Are You? Lyrics by series creator, writter and director Nat Hiken (who also created Sgt. Bilko) with music by John Strauss.

    There's a hold up in The Bronx,
    Brooklyn's broken out in fights;
    There's a traffic jam in Harlem that's backed up to Jackson Heights.
    There's a scout troop short a child,
    Krushchev's due at Idlewild... Car 54 Where Are You?

    A classic in its day.

    A great theme; the music which as you pointed out composed and arranged by Nelson Riddle. The show's creators and producers were obviously very musically minded. Actors portraying characters on the show included: Bobby Troup who was a jazz pianist and wrote (Get Your Kicks On) Route 66 and Julie London who was in actuality married to Troup. You as always are on your game pointing out the polytonality of the horns as an invocation of a siren. A great theme!

    The Twilight Zone's original theme that later went through some changes. The original theme was written by Bernard Herrmann who's composition I believe to be the most spacial and ominous of all the incarnations. You can hear suspenseful Herrmann themes immediately and throughout. I believe Herrmann's theme music was replaced by that of Jerry Goldstein who's theme was more direct, current; incorporating bongos and other instruments. It seems to me a more "hip" theme; but I prefer Herrmann's.

    Probably mentioned earlier; but it's a lazy Sunday.
