Need some help here, this is driving me crazy. On the new GVF single (at approx. 48 sec) there's a Led Zeppelin riff. And, I don't mean something similar. There's a straight up riff lift. It's repeated a few seconds later. I just can't think of the Led Zeppelin song and it's going to bother me. Can someone help me out here?

Also, no jokes about GVF being LZ - you can debate that in another thread. I'm just looking for that riff, please.

Not sure what Zep riff it may be, but it is almost identical to the bridge melody of Get a Grip by Aerosmith. I'm sure it's similar to a multitude of pentatonic riffs by many artists.

At :48 it seems to be just chords, not really hearing a riff. There was some little riff just before that, is that what you mean?

This is a shameful rip off of Heartbreaker combined with Night Flight and bit of Rover thrown in.

I don't hear anything that hasn't been done a hundred times by hundreds of hard blues bands, which is fine. I still dig it. I don't think there's anything note-for-note lifted from any Zeppelin or Aerosmith song on this track, either.

It's very similar to part of the harmonized riff at the end of Ten Years Gone, but not in the same context.

Sounds like a small part of the guitar solo on Stairway To Heaven to me.

Sorry just my opinion but this guys voice is soo bad, it's an insult to Plant. Beginning of that song especially is horrendous...

Oh and by the way, GVF are the lamest Zep imitation of all time. FYI.

You might say the band is lame but the singer's imitation is highly accurate

I'm no singer and barely a musician, but even I can tell that the tragically attired and coiffed GVF munchkin is yelling, not singing.

If it carries on like that, it'll have no voice left at all in a few years' time. Some would say that would be a blessing!

Oof. This song is absolutely terrible.

I've played it twice, and at no point have I noticed anything that could be even loosely described as a 'song'.

He’s definitely a mix between Plant & Joplin. The song isn’t innovative though.

That's my take as well. The song is nothing ground breaking- just some decent hard rockin' rock and roll. I like it well enough, not enough to jump up and down like I have for a lot of other stuff, but I'm certainly not going to bash these guys like a lot of people seem to need to do-- but then I don't get into bashing any kind of music. If someone loves music but doesn't like this, there's sure to be something else out there to suit their tastes, and maybe even enough so to use that bashing energy to say something good about what is liked instead of hammering on what is not liked.

Surely the old timers used to say the exact same thing about another singer, whose initials are RP

No. It's really not accurate at all. Robert Plant is great and this guy is awful.
