    hi,

i just picked up a Grundig Studio 2220 HiFi 4D just like this: http://vinil.si/?p=409

It has a few issues, one apparently pretty common is the auto return doesn't work (several youtube videos show how to fix it but I am not really worried about this). It also doesn't seem to be grounded and has a tendency build up a buzz, which a little paper clip trick seems to have fixed for the most part. It has a Shure M75 Type D cartridge that seems to have a good connection after a little cleaning of the connectors, and I just put a new (about $20) elliptical-shaped needle on it. It's a monster in size and weight, but seems to be in pretty good shape for a 1970's system.

It sounds really great, and I quite like it, but I don't know where it stands as far as quality or what will make it function best... or what possible needle, cartridge, etc, that will improve it.

Thanks for any 'expert' or at least experienced advice.

    thanks

hmm, was hoping somebody knew something about these... Even though they are German made, I'd seen some references too, second hand ones for sale in the U.S., but I guess I shouldn't expect them to be so widely known these days :/
