    Yes :righton:

I figure if one likes or hates both equally, then they need not vote.

I know there is a lot of hatred for both, but I thought it might be a close vote.

    Grunge was a lot funnier.

I voted for hair metal, although I was alive when grunge was banging and I loved it more then! Bush forever!

Grunge bored me to death. Hair metal was at least fun and the better bands of the era put out some really good stuff that, to me, still sounds great.

I understand why people like(d) grunge, but it just didn't suit my personality or what I look for in music.
I like to escape and enjoy myself, not drown in self-reflection and loathing.

Hair metal for me. I do like some grunge but only in small doses.

Agreed. I don't need music for that - I come HERE for all the loathing I can handle! :D

I don't care for either one.

    I voted Hair Metal.

I blame Grunge for the cut-off of new music from Britain.

i voted for grunge, just seemed to speak to my generation (mid 40s). That being said, I have to admit it will be interesting to see if people still flip on Nirvana, Pearl jam, AIC songs like they seem to do for some of the hair metal bands.

Alice, STP, Soundgarden greater than all hair Metal bands combined...

Grunge. Back in the day I pretty much hated anyone who used "party" as a verb, and hair metal was their soundtrack. I thought most of the songs sucked, too, though there were exceptions.

Although "Bush forever!" is an appropriate rallying cry for grunge fans, it serves equally well to motivate the members of Motley Crue.

I was in high school during the hair metal peak years and finishing college when grunge hit big. I saw a lot of hair metal bands opening up for older rock war horses and working the local concert venue in college. Sure it was a fun party atmosphere, but IMO the music was horrible. During those years I got my hard rock fix by listening to the unsurpassable 70s hard rockers. When grunge came I embraced it completely. Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, etc. sounded like the second coming of Black Sabbath, who were very unhip and unpopular during the hair metal years. I felt too old for grunge fashion, but it seemed less silly then tight striped spandex and 1000 gallon tanks of Aqua net.

ok, that has got me scratching my head. the whole point of grunge music was to depress other people. say what you wanna say about 80s music in general, but it was fun. life is a difficult thing, bills, working, etc. there are enough things to make a person lose their spirit. if i'm in a foul or bad mood, i don't go listen to some grunge to cheer me up, i reach for some 80s metal or hard rock. i do like some of the early grunge stuff, nirvana, pearl jam, soundgarden, alice in chains, but that's about it. i hate the term hair band, just hate it. it was invented by 90s journalists to describe a genre of music they either hated or didn't understand. music is entertainment, it's supposed to make you happy. that's why most of the 90s music sucked. it's bad enough my life hasn't been all roses, but do i really need some snotty nosed millionaire telling me how his sucks as well. you won't see no 90s revival like the 80s. the most popular tours out there are 80s related. i may be in the minority to this sort of thinking, as the poll is way lop-sided, but the world isn't clamoring for a comeback of walways me music.

Will take Twisted Sister, Motley Crue, etc. over any grunge band. Btw, I do like a few grunge bands as well.
