Perhaps ending just before Han meets Luke? Then it would actually end during Episode IV.

It's been pointed out elsewhere, but Felicity Jones (Jyn Erso) was also signed to a three-film contract.

Based on Rogue One, that now, ah, seems excessive. :shh:

Not necessarily. She could be called upon, for instance, to appear in a Solo sequel. Maybe a misadventure with Han is what put her in that Imperial prison we saw her in at the beginning of Rogue One (though I suspect some book or comic has already told that story)?

“This is how probably how Han Solo got his dice.”

Call me not Uber nerd enough, what “dice?”

Or did they put that out there so the ending would be a surprise?

Fake Spoiler Alert: The Han Solo in the original trilogy and The Force Awakens will be revealed to be a clone in Solo: A Star Wars Story. So fans concerned about already knowing that Han will survive this standalone film needn’t be concerned anymore. This is a different Han Solo, the original Han Solo, and his fate is up in the air. You’re welcome.

The dice hanging in the cockpit of the Falcon, all the way back to the original Star Wars. Featured prominently in Last Jedi.

Never noticed! Can these fanboys ever get enough detail? Only a complete nerd would think of incorporating the backstory on a pair of fuzzy dice! I see a three-part series, possibly a complete miniseries, surrounding Lando Kalrisian’s loafers.

A lot of fans didn't notice either. But yeah "Force Spirit Luke" gave Leia Hans' dice before he faced Kylo.

I noticed it in TLJ, but never in the 1977 film in all these years. I had to go back and verify it was there! Sure enough, Chewie bumps his head on them when entering the cockpit of the Falcon on Tatooine.

I'm going to indulge in some ridiculous speculation about the droid in the film, but just to be safe, I'll add spoiler protection (even though I'm almost certainly wrong):

We know Lando’s droid L3-37 has the ability to improve herself (itself?). Does she eventually evolve into... Lobot (Lando's assistant on Cloud City in TESB with the cybernetic headpieces). Is the name itself a clue? Both names consist of five characters (if you include the dash). Both begin with L. The 2nd character in each name repeats with the 4th character.

It's actually pretty well-established that those are the dice Han used to win the Falcon from Lando.

I hope that Han is in Empire jail for the majority of the movie, and Lando runs the show.

Yeah, I don't think I'll be coughing up the bucks to go see Solo in the theatre...

Much more likely is that the other two films are non Solo films where he just makes a cameo. Just because he has signed a three film deal doesn't mean he is making three Solo films. He could be in a Obi Wan film or even the (at one stage planned) Del Toro Gangster film.

It's like the Marvel contracts. Tom Holland's was for 3 or 5 originally but this included Civil War and Infinity War.
