I think it was more the fact that the torture was so prolonged that bothered me. The gore factor was not that extreme by the standards of this series.

Wonder if Clarice will make brief appearance at the end.

Last I heard, the TV production never secured the rights for the Clarice Starling or Jame Gumb characters, which are apparently owned by the movie makers.

That, and that the victim was pretty much intentionally set up by the three of the lead characters.

Chilton has been pretty much turned into the Rickety Cricket of the Hannibalverse.

Maybe if they'd known that the season finale was going to be the series finale, they might have tossed her in there, but it's too late now.

The only way they could do it would be to do a variation of the epilogue from the Brett Ratner Red Dragon movie where
Chilton (Bloom in this continuity) comes to Hannibal's cell and mentions that the FBI has sent a young woman to speak with him. Hannibal agrees and the film (series) ends.

Of course, there would be no need to do this since (a) It has already been done, and (b) It would limit their options for any future productions in the Bryan Fuller "Hannibal" universe.

  9. I would be very happy if they said screw it and made a couple of feature films (or 1) to close things out. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for SOMETHING.

They never planned to have Clarice in Season 4 anyhow. If it does miraculously materialize, Fuller says it will be a hitherto-unexplored-onscreen arc spun off of a sentence or two in one of the books, one that would also lend itself to a feature instead of a TV season. If Clarice did end up appearing in a planned SOTL Season 5 they'd have to reconstruct her from the ground up because a huge amount of her character, action, dialogue, etc. from the novels have already been poured into Will, Abigail, Miriam, and Bedelia.

It would be great if Anthony Hopkins made a guest appearance as a British Intelligence officer and friend of Jack Crawfords.

Not to brag or anything, but us up here in Canada just got to finish watching the finale. (Yes, the show stayed on Thursday nights here!)

No spoilers, but I will say it was excellent. God, I wish there'd been a fourth season. At least.

There may still be more Hannibal to come, eventually, depending on what kind of buzz the potential buyers see on/after Saturday.

I guess the show won't continue on another network.

    Loved the last scene though.

Great episode, great show! You never know what really happened, it could be a dream.
I hope some how it will continue on another network or source, as long as the same folks
continue and the quality, the excellent cinematography continue.

Is there any place in the Virginia/Maryland/Delaware area that has cliffs like that?
