A man who's written and directed nearly FIFTY films, roughly a third of which have been nominated for Best Original Screenplay at the Oscars! And the subject of an ongoing "film by film thread" here. I wish he'd find the nerve to return to standup comedy ... just once more. Until then, I wish him the best of luck regarding the following quote and look forward to his next fifty films. http://www.scoopwhoop.com/inothernews/quotes-by-woody-allen/
Would you believe that that was him playing the clarinet solo in the theme song to Jabberjaw? A short-lived ABC Saturday Morning cartoon from Hanna-Barbera in 1976.
Happy Birthday Woody. As a more recent fan who has seen all your films this century looking forward to the next one and the next one and the next one...
Undoubtedly my favorite filmmaker. Growing up, I was certainly always aware of Woody Allen, but the first time I actually saw a Woody movie in the theatre was ZELIG at the Crest Cinema Center in north Seattle, and I was hooked. Great discoveries followed, and sure, he's got some clunkers in his filmography, but a lot of wonderful (and often daring) films, often populated with very believable, well-written characters.
Woody and I also share a birthday with Richard Pryor, Janelle Monae, Lou Rawls, John Densmore, and Bette Midler. (and Pablo Escobar. and Jared from subway.)
