    I saw an Avalon disc on ebay with DIDM and SRC in its matrix. And, like a fool, I did not buy it. :shake:

    Thank you! My two USA-for-Europe pressings are not in this list:
    * Journey - Frontiers
    * Michael Jackson - Thriller

    Does the DADC version of Thriller have the original mixes? It might be a cheaper alternative to the Japanese discs (for some reason, these Japanese discs always sell for a fair amount of money despite appearing regularly on ebay - I've never seen one in the flesh since I've been paying attention to earlier pressings).

    IIRC, it was "Off The Wall" for which the Japan had the original mixes and other versions do not - all Thriller's released in the 1980's had the same original mixes. You are correct the discs are still somewhat demand scarce since his passing, but supply is probably as large as any CD ever produced. Basic economics and lack of interest in physical media has lowered the price in the last few years and will continue to do so.

    As for the SACD the Japan does not exceed the Scarlett book specs so regards of the playback transport it won't clip and distort like the "for USA" version.

    How can one identify a DADC for the European market?

    Original mixes? You mean original mix of "Billie Jean"? No. I don't think it is a cheaper alternative. USA-for-Europe pressing of this album seems to be very rare. When I saw it for sale, about one year ago, I didn't know it existed. I never saw it for sale again.

    Not exactly. There is one difference between the Japanese pressings and the US and European pressings, and it occurs in the song "Billie Jean" at 2:24. The US and European pressings have a clearly audible "Oh No", while it is buried on the Japanese pressings. It does not sound like a mere mastering difference.

    A USA-for-Europe pressing has the DADC stamp and "Manufactured by CBS/Sony Inc. in U.S.A." is printed along the perimeter.

    I think it is the one whose the "Oh No" is buried.

    Here's an image that I grabbed from the first pressings thread (thanks to kollektonist for this image). You can clearly see the Maufactured by CBS/Sony Inc. In U.S.A. Note that there are no upside down triangles on these pressings, as they are for the European, not the domestic US market. The hub print isn't exactly clear in this image - it doesn't really appear to have the Made in USA - Digital Audio Disc Corp.

    Just running across this thread, I have a promo Bangles CD single of "Be With You" that also has the DADC info in the inner circle. It's dated 1989.

    From what I've read, last CD (maybe) who has the DADC stamp was released in 1992 (Matthews, Wright & King - "Power Of Love").

    Yesterday I found a copy of Megadeth's SO FAR, SO GOOD, SO WHAT from 1988 which was an early style DADC pressing. I'd never seen it before!

    To my knowledge, a lot of CDs released in 1988 have the DADC stamp. It is also the case for a lot of CDs released in 1989.

    But not the early font style in the matrix. That's the point of this thread......

    Bonnie Tyler - Faster Than the Speed of Light - CBS CDCBS 25304 - Manufactured by CBS/Sony Inc. in U.S.A. - DIDP 20001 21B1 matrix - Made in USA - Digital Audio Disc Corp. in hub.

    To be clear, the early U.S. DADC pressings have "Made in USA - Digital Audio Disc Corp." and the DADC 'D' logo stamped on the plastic ring.
