Often times, through the forum, I become aware of a disc that I "simply must" purchase (sometimes at HIGH prices). But I also learn about MANY better versions of certain recordings that cost FAR LESS than others that I had assumed were the definitive reference. Thanks to all of the talent and knowledge here, I almost NEVER buy a bad-sounding disc anymore. Getting it right the first time seems to save money in the long run. If the forum offers an overwhelming consensus that a particular disc is the very best, then it almost certainly is the very best (and many times NOT the most expensive). Even for the expensive discs, I still feel it is a savings in the big picture. Cost and value are two very different things. If I plunk down the cash the market commands for a desirable and rare DCC gold; I know that I have the very best and will have no desire to purchase additional versions of that title in the future. Thank you!
