He Said/She Said - songs where the title/chorus are actually someone ELSE saying it

I want to see what other songs are out there where the title is actually the singer quoting someone else.

Where a casual listener would think that the lead singer is actually saying these words to someone else, but actually, a woman is saying it to him.

But that's not the singer quoting someone else in the title , as the OP stipulates .

In Paul Simon's "50 Ways To Leave Your Lover" a woman tells him "there must be 50 ways..." in the first two verses and then in the last verse he "realized she probably was right."

 

Ah, the chorus and the title, not the chorus or the title, as I would usually assume a “/“ means... got it.

It's worth noting that the line ends in the first person.

 

What if she didn’t say?

 

The Miracles' "Shop Around" has the mom quoted in the verses and bridge. The singer (Smokey Robinson) narrates the opening and the chorus tag.

Does that count? Mom is a "she," after all.

 

This doesn't count because the title contains a spoiler (and parentheses), but always good to hear it: The Rave-Ups, "She Says (Come Around)".

Prince’s “I Love U in Me” is a sparse Batman-era b-side which he’s played live on occasion. The provocative title is classic case of “that’s what she said.”
