I vote for Into The Void, though tracks like Electric Funeral, Cornucopia and Under The Sun are strong contenders.

I always felt "Under the Sun" especially the closing, was. It just drags you under.

Everything they did was “heavy” in one way or another, even songs like “Changes”, but “Black Sabbath” is the total lyrical+musical package and represents the opening statement of not only he band, but the Metal genre itself. I mean, detuned instruments playing a repeated tritone underneath Ozzy’s deranged vocals regarding a confrontation with Satan is one hell of a way to launch a genre and about as “heavy” as it gets!

“Hand of Doom”, “Symptom of the Universe”, and “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath” also always stood out to me as being particularly intense.

No way. By the time of Born Again Iommi's tone had become the typical 80s anemic "wasps in a jar" buzz which totally ruins any true heaviness in these tunes. It's all over-scooped high end fizz with no midrange guts whatsoever. Nothing like the bone crushing tone of their first few albums. I vote for either "Black Sabbath" or "Iron Man".

That was my gateway Sabbath song... they played it on local AM radio on a Friday night when the album was new, didn't pre-announce anything, it just started... I was like "what the heck is this?", "who the heck is this?"... once I found out, I took the bus across town to the local Woolco Department store that had the album on sale for $3.99!

    ... now that's heavy! :)
