Also be sure to check out the EP "Buried Beneath Aeons" by Aldebaran. It's one 28 minute long epic doom/death journey!
This Esoteric number from The Manaical Vale has had a longstanding spot on my iPod. "Crushing" seems an apt descriptor.
Never really listened to much St. Vitus. But Trouble is one of my fave bands in all metal. Pretty much everything through Plastic Green Head sees lots of rotation at my house. THOSE GUITARS!!!!!
Another Finnish band Arche: It's like having a snowflake fall onto your head then being run over by a tank.
I like the actual music but not the vocals at all. Are there any bands like these that are instrumental?
diSEMBOWELMENT is one of my favorite metal records, I've never been able to find anything that works for me quite like it does. IDK

Just wondering if anybody decided to listen to WINTER because of this thread .. and what they thought.
Thing about Winter is they were doing this stuff in a complete musical wasteland of a genre that didn't exist. They had essentially zero audience ... nobody understood what they were on about, and they recorded their two things and then vanished with no fanfare. It was only much later that they became appreciated for pretty much inventing a genre that hadn't even been imagined before. Check it out!
