Wow. A real shame. Thanks for posting the updates. I hope Merchant comes out with something even better.

Was `Life's Too Short' cancelled as well...or did Gervais and Merchant decide to
move on to something else at the time?

For anyone interested, they are actually airing a movie-long series finale, tomorrow (Saturday) night, at 10PM EST on HBO.

    I'm excited!

Great news about the movie finale. Definitely warranted - a terrific show that deserved much, much more attention.

Agree 100%. I wasn't sure about the very first episode, but from the second to the very end, it developed into a fun, gentle comedy with lots of heart and great characters.

That's great. Seems to have come out of nowhere. I watch HBO regularly, and I've seen no promotion for it. I really liked the series, so I'm glad this got made.

They ran a trailer after the last episode of John Oliver's Sunday night show, if I remember correctly.

Decent wrap up. Predictable, but still enjoyable and I'm glad the creators were able to do it. I would have liked to have seen an appearance from Amelia (Jenny Slate). I always loved the way her and Jessica would take passive-aggressive shots at each other whenever they met.

I only just completed the series and watched the movie, I thought it was hilarious..... I was also very impressed with the music they used each episode, does anyone know of a list of all songs used during the series ?

I was really bummed when it didn't get renewed. Not only was it funny, but it had real heart.
I really loved the opening theme song, so I looked it up. To my surprise I learned that it was an old Hall & Oats song called Alone Too Long - surprise because I'm a fan of Hall & Oats and I'd never heard the song before!

Here's a selection of some of the tracks:
