And hey, if there's too much 'West Coast brigtness' in these speakers in the room you're using them in, you just uhhh.... turn those 'presence' and 'brilliance' trim pots down! That's why they're there. Subtractive e.q. is always preferable.
Another simple/effective West Coast solution to the problem of getting monitors to suit your room, I guess.

The west coast sound is basically boosted high and low end. I call it the "boom crack" sound. Lots of low end, and lots of top end with not much in between. I prefer the east coast sound, like the sound of AR speakers. It is generally more linear.

    Cool!
I guess if your system consists of a 15 and a horn it's fairly obvious what you're expecting to get out of it.
My tea sipping or wine swirling, sunset watching, rose smelling, unwind-the-tension outdoors set-up actually sounds very full and satisfying ... to me. The RTA curve, 30' away under my favorite tree, is usually very flat, except tilted up slightly on the bottom 2 octaves.
Does that mean I just might subscribe to some unspecified variant of that west coast thing?
    :agree:
(Not really a question, more of a guilty plea.)
    Thanks, guys.

There were my father's. He bought them new in about 1978. In 1997, when he purchased new speakers, I took possession of them as my mastering speakers...

    Bob :)

Duck, it's a flying puck. - West coast sound developed in Canada? JBLHLS610 is Canuck - not yuck!

    That's nice...

I bet they were easier to move to Kansas than the L7's. ;)
