Here is a biggy question, what do you think is the best sounding LP pressing in production now?*

The 4AD repress of The Breeders Pod is very, very good.

Before that, I was in love with the Analogue Productions Buddy Holly LP reissue. (Which Michael Fremer reviewed on AP)

I'm not sure there is one right now. The best from MOFI and AP right now are many and the quality and fidelity of damn near all of them is so good I would be hard pressed to choose just one. And then there is the stuff from Electric Recoding company, and who else? There are too many choices of the really good stuff. :D

We're actually in a pretty enviable situation here - too much of the best stuff floating all around. Things could be worse. It's kind of like when I was growing up and the radio was playing one song after another that was really good, and we considered that to be perfectly normal. Life is good, ain't it? :goodie:

    Point missed I think!

Personally I wouldn't agree anyway. Of course we all like to hear music we love in something close to the best available quality. But that doesn't make it "best sounding" when that refers purely to sonic rather than artistic quality. A distinction we often struggle to make.

Thanks, unfortunately Amazon aren't the most reliable with exact releases, but from the date I guess it must be this - the 2016 remastered Back to Black one?

Serge Gainsbourg - Histoire De Melody Nelson

I got the 2016 Back to Black Jane Birkin & Serge Gainsbourg which has a sticker saying it's a new mix rather than just remastered.

That's the one! Just remastered as far as I can tell from the literature.

I'd say Pink Floyd's Pulse reissue is up there with the best, first time I played it quite loudly, and it completely blew me away!
