Just a headsup - of the three new Eurythmics Qobuz has only BYT as 24-96, while HDTracks has both BYT and Savage. Hmmm

HDtracks added “Scorpion” to their 24 bit offerings - a bit later than their usually scheduled Friday new additions. Upon release, it was only available in 24 bit from Qobuz. I’m sure many of you may already be aware of the fiasco surrounding the album’s “updated” master that some streaming/download services have replaced their offering of the album with.

Being that it was a late addition on HDtracks (later than the replaced master started going around) I figured I’d inquire with them to see which version of the album they were selling. Please note, I have not really received an answer in regard to this. Here’s the email thread.

So on that note… now that the album is available in 24/44.1 through them, ProStudioMasters, Qobuz, possibly others… does anyone know if the updated version is being offered anywhere in this resolution?

I can check for you if Qobuz is now streaming the replacement version.

Sweeeeet that would be awesome, thanks a ton! Listening to that 1 line in “Emotionless” at 2:30 would probably be the easiest tell. Though I can’t buy or stream from Qobuz, I can at least browse, and it does look as if they have 4 different listings for the album, which is strange in itself... only 2 available in 24/44.1 though.

24/96 good enough given the age of the recordings?

i would guess yes..but i have the 24/192..i can’t imagine the down conversion would
sound bad at all. Regardless, even on CD this is a superb archival remaster.

I had the previous 24/88 of the first two albums and compared it to the new 24/192, albeit on an office system, and the resolution didn't really appear as any kind of issue to me. It seems like the new one had a little more eq in the upper bass and lower mids but other than that extremely close by my ear and both very good being on par with Neil's other hi res offerings.

I have both those 24/88 versions too, and I agree they are also very good.

Good. It will mean that HDTracka and their nonsense MQA streaming service will be DOA.

And besides non MQA, those are the only two positive things they could probably bring to the table. Right now I only use Qobuz for region rights locked titles not available here.

I buy a lot on Qobuz. They frequently have a better price.

Pricing may change when they are under US regulations etc.. Sucks they won't be able to bring the whole catalog to the US, kinda what makes it nice be able to buy abroad.

Any idea where I can get the 192KHz Appetite For Destruction in the UK? It's not on hdtracks.co.uk or 7digital.

Another frustrating Madonna/HDtracks experience. This time with Who's That Girl.

Three of the four Madonna songs are arguably improvements (Causing A Commotion, The Look of Love and Can't Stop), but once again the title track sounds like the second side of Virgin. A complete muddled mess.

Simply no consistency in terms of the tapes being used.

    Hi all,

Joni Mitchell's Both Sides Now is one of my favorite releases of her's of all time. Vince Mendoza's arrangements are sublime. Has anyone had a chance to hear the HD Tracks version here?

Both Sides Now | HDtracks - The World's Greatest-Sounding Music Downloads

Has anyone compared it to the CD and is it an upgrade that would justify purchasing it?

    Thanks,
