When this song was issued on 45, it was called "Time Out of Mind."

Rock N Roll is a bit of a stretch, but I guess it's technically correct (It's been a long time since I rock n' rolled).

Song Remains the Same is wrong

    "California sunlight, sweet Calcutta rain,
Honolulu starbright, the song remains the same"

  6. Tim the Billy Joel song title came from one of my brother's lists. I'm not a big Joel fan, but I've checked and I see the song is actually called
Movin' Out (Anthony's Song) so maybe it does qualify?

And reading one of your other posts Tim, has jogged my memory

"Open The Door Homer" - Bob Dylan/The Band, also many covers including Thunderclap Newman, Robyn Hitchcock, etc.

Always wondered why the chorus is "Open the door, Richard, I've heard it said before..."

A friend of mine Bob, who is a huge Band fan, says urban myth has it that the boys were a little tipsy during the Basement Tapes session and that Dylan was singing directly to Richard Manuel, while the song was being recorded. Kind of fooling around.

  7. It wasn't until the 1980s when I realized what the title of the song meant or possibly meant. After all I was only 10 or 11 when the song came out. Wasn't reading NME or Melody Maker just yet. :)

    From various U.K. slang dictionaries.

Randy - lewd, lustful, desirous of sex

Scouse - Adj. Of, or, from Liverpool. Derived from the name of a local stew, an abbreviation of lobscouse.
Scouser - Noun. A person from Liverpool, a Liverpudlian.

Git - Noun. An idiot or contemptible person. Although more commonly used, it is derived from 'get'.

Happiness Is A Warm Gun "...and cursed Sir Walter Raleigh, He was such a stupid get..."

I know that "The Who" had a song a.k.a " Teenage wasteland", but I don't know the real name of it , and I know that the name isn't in the song.

And this takes us back to the favourite sitcom thread.

The phrase "randy scouse git" was a favourite of the father in the English sitcom Till Death Us Do Part (on which All In The Family was based) when referring to his son-in-law.

No doubt Davey Jones was a fan of the show. He may not have written the song (I haven't checked) but I reckon he thought of the title!

If we are to include any Beatles songs, then also include:

    Tomorrow Never Knows
    Revolution 1
    Revolution 9
    The Inner Light
