Here are some pics. Lacquered MDF with dalmation wood armboard. Mahogany set is in process.

How's that Thorens sound? It's a 124, it looks like with a Rega tonearm and Zu cart.

Looks great. I'm digging some of these really nice plinths I've been seeing photos of recently.

That is before I was aware of Thorens. The first turntable I coveted was a Thorens TD125 with an SME 309 arm. Never got it, though.

There was an article in Stereophile not long back which the reviewer was rebuilding.
A Swiss company I think has motors and all kinds of new parts to completely refurbish this model.

This one had a motor rebuild, a complete rewire, new strobe mirror, new belt, new silcone motor, new mount bushings, and new silicone mushrooms. It sounds great. Low noise, solid sound.

An SME arm came off this table. I will try it again on the new plinth soon.

That looks like a SME 3009 Type II Improved Non-detachable.

That is the ONE piece of audio that I purchased over the years that I really regret letting go of.

That arm worked so well with a Shure Type V, and I felt like I was able to adjust it so easily to be right on the spot.

If the bearings are still in good shape after all these years, I think you'll really like that one....

    Good afternoon friends,
I am new to the forum and I need help. Accurate sizing of the Rega-RB-300-Armboard-Mounting-Plate is Thorens td160 so I can manufacture and use it in my Thorens. I have seen few suppliers of this piece and when I see is very expensive. Could someone help me?
    Thanks,

    Reginaldo

Vinyl Nirvana has this armboard. He is on this forum. His product is solidly made. And fits your TD 160. Why not? Worth the price.

Interesting... Did you fit a plastic one or a metal one?

I replaced the original plastic knife-edge bearing on the very same arm with a CNC machined bronze one and it is a very recommendable mod
