Just listened to the album a few days ago, I liked it. I agree the voice does sound like Robert Plant and at times it kinda annoyed me. The music itself was not Led Zeppelin though, not even close. I think I would've enjoyed it more without everyone telling me they sound like LZ.

I think they're good, but when rock band get popular the music changes, the record company will dumb them down. If they continue to make it, i think they will be like Jet or Wolfmother...shortlived.
I hope I'm wrong though. I feel there's more integrity to having your own label, Ty Segall is a good example, he does what he wants when he wants and how he wants to do it. I feel that's how rock music lives in this day and age. Screw the big record company!

Plant in early Led Zep records sound quite a bit like Joplin.

Hmm, I don't recall Page wearing skinny jeans and playing an SG, Jonesy stomping around barefoot, or Plant sporting a "rat tail".

Other than that, they look just like Zep did! ;)

Singer does the Plant stances, drummer has the John Bonham Ludwig kit that you can buy out of Musician's Friend for $3k.

I'd almost respect them more if the guitarist went full "poppies and dragons suit" a'la Page.

If I wanted to see a tribute band I'd go and see Zepperella.

Though not as interesting a name as Lez Zeppelin.

Yeah, just ruined the experience of hearing them for the first time. Honestly besides the voice, I didn't feel that way about them.

That Jet and Wolfmother comparisons have a point. Every now and then a retro-sounding rock band emerges which has a lot of buzz around which falls down after the first or second album.
    We'll see.
I would also mention King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard - definitely a rock band, high in demand (their tour schedule is tight and they play decent venues) and totally do what they want and when they want (5 albums in 2017!).

We'll be finding their CD at charity shops for 50c

Well, I love Led Zeppelin and we will never ever get any new music from them, so now a bunch of young guys called Greta Van Fleet show up and make excellent rock music that comes as close to Zep as possible. I love my rock music and I quit being bitter years ago, so I'm a happy old fart when I put the GvF album on!

(Would be even happier if they released it on vinyl though.)

Highway Tune and Black Smoke Rising are fantastic. Looked to see if I could get a ticket to a show, already sold out for their concert in July. The whiners in this thread are hysterical. Stay in the 1970s, please.

I find his voice about as listenable as Yoko Ono, and I love Plant's vocals.

Joke band that's laughing all the way to bank.
They're set. Even if GVF doesn't sustain their popularity, which few bands do anyway, they'll still have a career as a club band playing their songs and Zep covers. They shouldn't ever need a day job. The joke's on the haters.
