That's all for me. I guess Rogue One was halfway decent. But I'm done with Star Wars at this point, no mo'. The prequels sucked hairy ballz and the new ones have no soul.

I'm not even going to mention Phantom menace. I am a devout practitioner of the Machete Order of watching the SW saga so hopefully I will never have to sit trough Phantom Menace (or George's Folly as we like to call it) ever again!

Haven't seen Solo yet but I'm pretty confident I will like it.

The 1st one was great. Over-over-overrated 'Empire' struck me as a long merchadise-infused trailer for the 3rd episode which was unaccountably dull. That was it for me.

Star Wars fans are a bit divided at the moment, but one thing that most of us seem to agree on is that A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back belong in the top two spots. So let's all get together, hold hands and sing Kumbaya. :)

I can only rate the original 3 movies as I have only seen them.... (And only want to see them)

    I rate all 3 10+

I havent seen the 2 after the 3rd one or the pre-quels so I cant really rate them.....

    Oh, too hard to choose!

I will say this, though. Someone on Twitter posted the following list, with no comment, and people went nuts:

Driving people nuts may have been the point. Then again, there are many younger people who were introduced to the saga via the prequels and love them. The majority, but not all, of the prequels’ critics are older fans who expected something akin to the original trilogy they were raised on.

These are in Star Wars universe chronological order, correct? I don't think these were a ranking of the movies. At least I hope not.

The loyalty this franchise receives baffles me. The spirit and charm of the originals has long gone.

Nostalgia, people want it to be good because they remember it from their childhood. Ef Star Wars that's how over it I am.

Yep, I agree. When I went to see the one that introduced Rey I expected a modernized sophisticated version of the Star Wars universe, with darker mythic elements and poetry of story and so on, and what I sat through was hack work made by people who don't give a damn. The way the original heros were given empty pathetic afterthought roles was offensive and I do not even care that much about these movies. People are going to see the movies regardless, so why not make something epic?

While I generally rate the individual movies in the series, overall, as either awesome, OK, or abysmal, if I had to assign a rating (and some of the ratings would change over time):

    Awesome:
    1. Star Wars (nothing can/will ever match the excitement of seeing this in it's original run in 1977)
    2. The Empire Strikes Back
    3. Rogue One

    OK:
    4. Revenge of the Sith
    5. Return of the Jedi (would love to rate this one higher but the Ewoks really pull it down overall)
    6. Solo
    7. The Phantom Menace
    8. Attack of the Clones

Abysmal (not even merely 'just bad'):
    9. The Force Awakens
    10. The Last Jedi (that they could make a movie even worse then The Force Awakens is...mind blowing)

The only film I would assign to the abysmal category is Solo.

This ^^^^^. I was looking forward to a new, modern series with high expectations as well. I thought they would add mind-blowing mythos, stories, characters, and intense, spectacular action sequences that would all compliment each other, as well as clever, well thought out lore and depth to advance the series to new heights....similar to how I felt Nolan's take on "Batman" was an awesome, modern take on that series.

Or, an even better example, Jackson's Lord Of The Rings trilogy which I hold up as a prime example of how to do a magical, mythic movie series absolutely right.

Instead we got a warmed over "New Hope" (without any of the depth and charm of it) and beloved characters completely misunderstood. Actually, the new current crop running Lucasfilm seems to not understand anything that made the series as loved as it is.
