  2. Great products! And what's not to love about a 20-year transferable warranty.

    musical? or dull?

if we take away the 20-year transferable warranty protection

Very musical and reliable, too. Definitely not dull.

  5. Depends on one's taste and associated equipment. Personally I wouldn't call them musical, but it's been about 2 years since I last heard some Bryston gear.

    Great stuff.

My best attempt at describing them would be: accurate.

I'm in the UK and I use Bryston, excellent amps, but if you are thinking of spending that sort of money on amplification make sure you have a proper demo, ideally in your own home with your other components.

If by analytical you mean accurate then yes they are.

  11. I love my 4BSST - I want to move into a tube power amp for everyday listening but I'll still keep the 4BSST for my studio work.
I also have a BP-6 pre that has been replaced in my current system by Shindo Auriges. The tube Shindo has more texture, depth and color but the BP-6 is still a very nice pre esp. for the price I pd. for it used.

I have 2 Bryston monoblocks that run Maggie 3.7 and Rel subs. I like them combined with my EAR 868 preamp. Very detailed......sometimes too detailed!

Well for one I'm not a Steve Hoffman guy - he needs to pay me a crap load of money before I throw that moniker onto my name. Till then I will view him as an entertaining and talented engineer.

That being said, experience I've had with Bryston amps have been that they are a very musical type amp. Plenty of current and do a great drive driving speakers. I don't recall the model number (3b maybe?) that I had the chance to hear but thought they sounded great. They are real beasts that come out of those doors.

I find Bryston amps in a local store. How else?

Seriously, it depends entirely what you match them with and the music that you play. They are a bad match for my speakers, though.

I think Bryston products are always very competitive with anything else near their price. They don't sound like tubes do, though...

I have always loved my Bryston stuff. Currently I have a SP 1.7 pre/pro a 4B for my mains (20+ years old) and a 3B for my center channels front and back (30+ years old)
I find the 4B to match up well with my new McIntosh C2500.

Regarding Bryston sound: No, they're not the most refined in sound, they're not for everyone, and they're very detailed, not "warm and fuzzy" at all. There's plenty of amps and preamps that do that. They're good, solid amps that imo, deliver the goods for the most part. You could do a lot worse, imo.

There is a good reason why amongst those studios and mastering facilities not running active speakers the Bryston is extremely popular. They are accurate and reliable. They will not cover for poor micing, mixdown or mastering.

I've had Bryston digital, amps, and power conditioning. I concur with the school of thought which maintains that their preamps hate music. Only the power conditioner is still around. It's good value for money but I find the house sound to be ...ummmm...not to my taste.
