How far have you traveled for a musical purchase or concert?

for me musical purchase: Hammond b2 organ Fargo nd to Cincinnati

 

Back in 1998, I drove from upstate NY to Boston to buy the DG Complete Beethoven Edition from Tower Records. It was the last one in stock in the Tower system. Still one of my prized possessions.

 

I drove to L.A. For a Gibson guitar once

 

About 16 thousand kilometres

 

From where

 

From California to Maine to see Warren Haynes in Portland...Also have family in the area which was part of it.

Also from Southern California to Cabo San Lucas, MX for Sammy Hagar's birthday bash in 1999.

Travelled 1,500 miles roundtrip for the sole purpose to see Ben Harper perform at Red Rocks.
Travelled 550 miles roundtrip to Dallas on several occasions for rare ep/12/lp.

 

Dead Tours.
Drove from Tucson to Seattle to see Slayer. Then followed them down the coast and over to Phoenix over the next 15 days or so.

I drove to NYC to drop a Blackguard off a few years back. A guy named Keith flew across the pond to pick it up.

 

I also drove from Sac to L.A. To see Richard Thompson and King Crimson. Not at the same time of course.

 

Flew from Maine to California to see Kiss at Dodger Stadium on Halloween, then straight back after to be at work on Monday!

 

Flew from Seattle to Raleigh, NC, then drove to Chapel Hill to see Superchunk.

 

Cool - id love to see Al in concert but I think he stays on east coast only...he's a living legend in my book

 

Just got back from Mexico and the One Big Holiday party that My Morning Jacket throws every year or so. Brought my wife, our daughters (3 & 1) and the in-laws. Call me Clark W Griswold.

Best trip ever

 

3 hour car ride + 2 hours flight to Sao Paulo+ 11 hour flight to London
Just to see The Who.

 

Wow. That beats just about everyone else here--16 hours total and an entire continent and ocean crossing.

 

1. Exactly! And actually I got a train to Leeds too! Buy I stayed in London for a couple of weeks to enjoy the city also. But I went to England for The Who!

Had the good fortune to be able to see in in concert when I was living there in '94 but that was strictly by chance.

 

Nice, I wish he toured but I understand his eyesight maybe keeps fro straying too far from home?
