Loved those ESS AMT-1s. They really were great rock and roll speakers.

Around 1997, I obtained Thiel 2 series speakers. In 2009 I purchased Revel F52's, and I really love them. I like the F52's so much, I don't anticipate getting new speakers for a very long time.

So many speakers over the years, I can't possibly remember them all...

1st pr - Bozak (still have them somewhere*), Rectilinear, Klipschorn, Mission, Polk Audio Monitor 10, KEF, Klipsch Cornwall, Heresy, CF-2*, CF-3*, ProAc, JBL 200 StudioMaster, JBL 300 Summit, B&W 801, Altec VOTT, Ducane DUK 30 w/ionovac plasma tweets*, Altec 604e in Barzilay? cabs*, Pioneer PM12 in backloaded horn*, Zu Audio Definition Pro. Most speaks I pick up eventually fall into 2 categories - one's I keep for 6 months to a year and one's I keep forever.

Around 2000, I purchased another pr of Klipschorns and within a couple of years, modified them with Oris horns and AER drivers. They've been in the main system ever since and though I've had other speaks in the system, I've always come back to the modded Khorns. So, I've been listening to them for +10 years - probably the longest run.

The most recent purchase was a pr of Tannoy 15" Monitor Golds in Windsor cabs I picked up about 2 years ago. They're in a 2nd system at the moment but my wife has issues with them (something along the lines of..."too big and ugly!). She prefers the Altecs in Barzilay cabs so I may have to relent and find a new home for the Tannoys.

The weakness I encountered was not related to sound quality, though. I found they did not take to being driven hard particularly well. I melted the little foil amt diaphrams too often and finally blew out one woofer. Enter, Klipsch Cornwall. In fairness, it may have at least partially been an amplification issue. Still, the cornwalls never whimpered under any conditions.

1975 and 2010. I hated to see my 75's go. I was there at the end.

I think I just arrived at that point. I changed from Dynaudio Contour S1.4s to S3.4s this summer, and now I just upgraded the S3.4s with a set of Esotar2 tweeters. They still need to be broken in more, but I love what I am hearing so far. I now have what I felt was missing, especially with classical music playback.

I rotate a few pairs on my office system but for my "main" system I bought a pair of ADS L500s in 1976. Still have them but replaced with my all-time favoites a couple of years ago, Dahlquist DQ-10s. No need to look any further.

Believe it or not, I bought my main speakers in 1976.

Even stranger is the fact that I can hear things on them that most people here apparently can't hear on whatever speakers they listen to.

Well that statement is based on the fact that so many here claim to not be able to hear the difference between CD's and high resolution recordings. Here the difference is as obvious as day and night, assuming of course that the recordings possess the right type of attributes.

    Vandersteen 2cis - stolen
    Thiel 2.2s. Hated them
Linn Kabers in about 1992. Still have them and will never get rid of them.

Ha! Nah, they were stolen from me, boxed up in their original boxes in my VW Rabbit. Wonder what I'd think of them now; they sure were loud.

Boston VR 40 in 1996. Still happy with them. I don't think my room warrants an upgrade.
