    Essential - a true classic.
I remember hearing previews of the album, late night on the John Peel show and being mesmerized.
It was strange that "Heroes" was structured so similarly to Low. In hindsight, it's as if Low (brilliant as it was) was merely a blueprint for what was to follow. A testing ground.
"Heroes" is a far more confident and finished album with more songs and what songs they are: Beauty and the Beast, Joe the Lion, Heroes, Sons of the Silent Age, Blackout, The Secret Life of Arabia, terrific stuff. Those in bold are among my favourite Bowie tracks of all time. Thanks to this album, he reigned supreme at the close of the 70s.

I love Heroes, but I don't view it as one Bowie's absolute classics. I'm more of a Lodger fan. :D

It's No Game Part 1 and Joe the Lion are two of my all time favorite Bowie songs.

But I've never been too wild about anything on this album outside of JtL and the title cut. Those two songs make it "pretty great." In general, a step down from Low.

'It's No Game Pt. 1' is from "Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)".

Essential listening. It's one of my favorites. I love Sense of Doubt/Moss Garden/Neuköln.

I love that experimental stuff he did with Eno (on Low and "Heroes"). 'Moss Garden' is fantastic, so japanese-like, it's a dream!

I keep waiting to listen to this whole album on vinyl and I haven't seemed to come across it in a really long time. I feel like I have listened to most of his surrounding this album but never dove head first into Heroes. Need to check this one out.

It's not often I praise Bowie's sax playing but that Middle Eastern/Turkish thing he gets going on "Neuköln" is so eerie and haunting.

I sometimes think of side 2 as one long piece from "V-2 Schneider" through "The Secret Life of Arabia".
Absolute brilliance. I see some people hate it, but I'm glad this side is getting some love here. Makes me not so strange.
Or maybe strange, but not alone.

It's really the apex of the eerie / instrumental thing he began on Low (or as the wordless vocal approach on the song "Subterraneans" from the same album). Probably a reason he moved away from that type of composition afterwards (Lodger contained no instrumentals), because he got it perfect here.

'Subterraneans' is another very nice one! I love Bowie's improvised vocals there. Very moving.

It's absolutely essential. I rank it among my top three favorite Bowie albums, with Low and Scary Monsters.

Great album with his greatest song. Unreal, but I don't think either charted in the US?

Same. I can only go by how many times I pull out certain albums, and this one does not get played a lot. No arguments about the stellar title track, but I've reached my lifetime quota of hearing it.
