    Must be.
The fact that they were made public can be only thing that could take the life out of the art, for the artist. IMO.

I think that releasing those sessions would require many discussion meetings over coffee and a lot of commitment from Brian Eno. I would like to know if he is at all interested. Even the Toy LP seems to be too much bother for The Men In Charge. They'd rather just reissue what's already out there in a different package and maximise the takings. The Outside sessions would take a little bit of effort.

I rarely listen to Outside. Only three or four good songs imo.

Wishful Beginnings and all the segues are filler. Heck I got bored of those segues on the very first listen, and I also found them super-creepy. I skip them every time I play the album. That aside it's a fairly strong album if you give it time. It's easy to dismiss after one or two spins but repeated listens do bring rewards.

Can't agree with that, because it's a concept album about a detective horror story. It's narrated by several characters in the first person style of Mike Hammer etc, therefore the segues are part of the whole concept. I think the only track that could be called filler is Strangers When We Meet but it's so great that you wouldn't want to chop it off. (So to speak).

Let's Dance, China Girl and Modern Love are fabulous songs and three of Bowie's very best singles. Quite why it's the done thing on here to trash the Let's Dance album is beyond me.
Well IMO the 'concept' is filler then. I and many others don't want those crappy segues interrupting the music...:kilroy:

I don't think many people here trash Let's Dance. It was a big seller, lots of people on this forum really like it. I don't like it at all, but that's just my personal taste, in the same way that I will never like extremely popular albums by Coldplay, Celine Dion, U2 and Ed Sheeran.
I the last 5 years I've played 1.Outside about 20 times and Let's Dance once.

Added the missing word you forgot to type there, before folks here will wonder about your taste or knowledge of Bowie's tremendous series of great singles pre '83.

That is my answer as well. One person's fabulous is another persons trash, or something like that.
@oldturkey, once is one more time than I've played it. Heh.

That makes about five times since 1983. At least my copy is pretty much NM.

As much as I love Garson's playing [and he's a nice bloke], he does tend to misremember certain things.

I don't know for sure but I do think what we have is mixed/finished. I'm certain there is more but in what state is anyone's guess.

Completely agree! It's really great that the artist managed the produce those albums in his final years, but much of the praise lavished upon them seems over the top. In terms of song quality and personal enjoyment, there is no comparison between them and Outside for me. The album is comfortably better than Heathen, too - which is also a very fine piece of work. And I genuinely enjoy the Outside segues!

I have always loved Outside. Its dark and difficult to get into. But once you made it it's fantastic.

Outside of Station to Station and Scary Monsters, the Bowie collaborations with Eno are my Favorite Bowie Albums. I actually heard ‘Outside’ before digging into most of Bowie’s ‘70s Albums, so it prepared me for ‘Low’, ‘Heroes’ and ‘Lodger’.
