    Desert Where her Heart Is
Starting with a gentle acoustic and then the Bass that has led so many of their best tracks takes the forward ground. The song then moves into the chorus. This isn't a bad song, they're going for the deep and meaningful ballad here. Perhaps it is my lack of familiarity, but although it seems pretty good, it doesn't draw me in, again like earlier albums and songs did.

    Betrayer
A lot of nice guitar tines on this album. This is a pretty good song and grinds its way into the album well.

    Ladykiller
Moderate tempo, atmospheric type song to close out the album. Not a bad track at all.

Juggernaut is the ninth and final studio album by Australian rock band, Hunters & Collectors. The album, recorded in 1997, was co-produced by the group with Kalju Tonuma and Mark Opitz. It was released on 26 January 1998 on Mushroom's White Label. With its release, Hunters & Collectors announced they would disband after the Say Goodbye Tour – they gave their final performances in late March 1998. The album peaked at No. 36 on the ARIA Albums Chartand No. 48 on the New Zealand Albums Chart.

Hunters & Collectors issued Juggernaut on 26 January 1998 with the line-up of John Archer on bass guitar and backing vocals; Doug Falconer on drums, percussion, programming and backing vocals; Jack Howard on trumpet, keyboards and backing vocals; Barry Palmer on lead guitar; Mark Seymour on lead vocals; Jeremy Smith on guitars, French horn, keyboards, programming and backing vocals; and Michael Waters on trombone.[1][2]

Almost four years earlier, in May 1994, the band released their eighth studio album, Demon Flower, which peaked at No. 2 on the ARIA Albums Chart.[3] In 1995 they undertook an extensive tour of Europe in support of Demon Flower before taking a break. During this time they released a double live set, Living ... In Large Rooms and Lounges, in December that year. Also during the break Palmer formed a side-project, deadstar, which released a self-titled album in 1996 and a second album, Milk in 1997. Seymour issued his first solo album, King Without a Clue, in September 1997.

By this time a split was inevitable: there were external family commitments, long running internal disputes and a desire to simply 'call it a day'. Instead of providing a compilation album, the band recorded their last studio album, Juggernaut. It was produced by the group with Kalju Tonuma (Nick Barker, Frenzal Rhomb, deadstar) and Mark Opitz (The Angels, Cold Chisel, INXS).[1]

When we decided that the band was breaking up, we thought it would be a great idea to do an original album. It's kinda cocky, but it's really good. It had to be the easiest album we've ever made. We didn't have the spectre of having a big overseas producer and it wasn't an album that was gonna make or break our career. It was just a record of songs that we wanted to record. And we knew that we weren't going to follow it with months and months of touring. We all felt really good about that.

    — Barry Palmer
Hunters and Collectors launched their final twelve-week national Say Goodbye Tour. Their final public show was on 22 March 1998 and their final, invitation only, performance on 24 March 1998, both in Melbourne.

The album peaked at No. 36 on the ARIA Albums Chart and No. 48 on the New Zealand Albums Chart.[4][5] The first track released from the album, "Higher Ground", in December 1997, was a promotional single only (with only 1,000 copies issued). The first official single was "Suit Your Style" in February 1998, which featured Paul Kelly on backing vocals and also co-writing the lyrics with Seymour. "Higher Ground" was commercially unsuccessful failing to chart in either country.[3]

The album was re-issued by Liberation Blue on 11 August 2003.

So we come to the end of the Hunters and Collectors original official albums. Again i am not as familiar with this album as I am with earlier albums so please pipe up and give us any into, references or thoughts that you may have.

    True Believers
We start with a synth line that is replaced by a muted trumpet that leads into a close mic'd vocal. This isn't a bad song, but if listened to back to back with something from Human Frailty, we are listening to a completely different band. Of course that's fine, but it seems like the band got old before their time. To be fair it may just be a case attuning myself to latter day Hunnas more. Certainly not a bad track.

    Suit Your Style
The lyrics are co-written with Paul Kelly. This is a pretty good song, but doesn't sound very much like Hunters and Collectors.

    Good Man Down
It sounds somewhat like the guys are experimenting with chord progressions. This is a pretty good song too. This is just very different to the Hunna's I am used to.

    Human Kind
Sounding more like the Hunnas in the arrangement here, but with a kind of Beatles sound about this song.

    Those Days Are Gone
Again the band sound very different on the start of this song. Seymour has done quite a bit of whisper vocals and falsetto on this album. This song starts off really well, and becomes fairly predictable. It's not bad, but Earlier albums have lead me to expect more from the band. It is a pretty good song though.

    Long Way To The Water
This song starts off with a bass guitar and another whisper vocal. Another pretty good song. More listens may give me more love for this album, but it just doesn't grab me enough to want to give it that much time.

So that is Hunters and Collectors.
Also in 1998 we got the cd/dvd of Under One Roof, a very good live package that is worth checking out.
In 2003 we were given Natural Selection, a compile.
In 2005 we were given Mutations another compile.
In 2008 the Horn Of Plenty box came out and was incredibly good value in an original and very nice set of drawers design. This is very much worth getting if still available, as it gives you all the cd's mentioned and two concerts on dvd + the assembly of the EP's on a disc called the Cargo Cult, which was also released separately in 2008.
I hope you have enjoyed going through these albums and I hope you get at least Jaws Of Life, Human Frailty and Ghost Nation, as they are certainly excellent additions to any collection.
    Cheers
