    Hey everyone,

I'm in the middle of recording an album and last night the Jordanaires came in to put background vocals on six songs. How cool is that?!?! I thought the session would be canceled because of Sam Phillips' passing but they delayed their flight until 4am(!) so they could do the session.

They were defiantly the real thing. I didn't know what to expect. They listened to the first song and BAM! there was the Jordanaire sound. Simply amazing. Smooth and full with that sound I've been hearing since I was a little kid.

At one point the producer wanted them to do a vocal part similar to what they did on an old Elvis song called Treat Me Nice. They need a refresher on that tune so we played the CD. As I'm sitting there listening to Elvis I hear them singing along with the track. At that point I fully realized what was going on around me. I have to admit I had a tear in my eye. I've recorded many legends but for some reason it got to me last night. A very moving moment I will never forget.

Anyway, here's a picture of me with them. I also have a short audio clip of their vocals only. I thought it may be interesting for some of you to hear them without any music. I quickly threw it together but it does a good job at showing how great they still are. Pay attention to the comment Ray made at the very end.

For anyone interested, my signal path was a Telefunken U-47, Universal 610 tube mic pre (based on the classic Capitol studio's console), a Tube Tech compressor (compressing only 1-2dB at max) straight into the IZ RADAR at 24 bits. No EQ was used.

Thank you Gort Robert for posting the audio clip for me. :)

A legendary group, to be sure. Besides singing on the Elvis tunes, recorded with many other artists (with Rick Nelson on "Lonesome Town," for example).

    Jamie,

That was great listening to! Nice headphone leakage in there. Sensitive signal chain, worthy of those great voices.

Funny comment at the end. Priceless!!!!!!!!!

    Ummm, Jamie?

What's your last name? I haven't been able to figure it out yet by reading posts. Just wanted to check out some of your work, like on the AMG.

    Thanks!
