I like Tom Cruise. There, I've said it.

I said elsewhere in the Edge of Tomorrow thread that, now that I've seen the movie, I gotta say that Tom Cruise is the hardest working guy in movies today. He clearly put himself through hell making this film, and the stunts, the mud, the explosions, the gunfights, and all that stuff are off-the-charts intense and complicated. The guy's in great shape and clearly works very, very hard. Good acting, too.

Watched "Born On The Fourth Of July" this weekend. Saw it once before years ago. He totally got into that part. Amazing performance. His scenes with William Dafoe are high caliber acting. Eventhough hes one of the few action movie guys I can enjoy movies from, I wish he would have done more out on the edge characters that show the ugly side of life.

    Jack Reacher sequel already confirmed.

TC is also working on Mission: Impossible 5 and Top Gun 2, with "Edge of Tomorrow" making $360 million worldwide.

He's not quite "wash up" as many think.

Sorry but I don't fully understand the winking smile not having seen the movie in which he portraits that one-eyed nazi. I didn't see the movie because he makes me nervous.:righton:

That's one part he was totally wrong for, IMO!

Yeah, maybe he's not Oscar material, but a lot of good actors/actresses aren't. He knows how to do his thing and do it well, with a bit of humor thrown in.

I really liked how the movie surprises you at points, within the parameters of a blockbuster sci-fi flick (i.e. you know that certain perverse possible endings just won't happen because, hey, it's a blockbuster sic-fi flick! With Tom Cruise!

Huh, what if he did a movie with Quentin Tarantino, what would that be like...

Whatever part he's playing he always seems to be on the point of jumping on a sofa. Maybe I envy him. He's a star, I'm not.

I don't think Tom Cruise is a great actor, but he is a great movie star.

I agree with this. I know lots of people don't like TC for some reason, but over the last decade or more, he's made nothing but great movies. And if it is a sci-fi or action flick, I know that it is going to be really well done.

Jack Reacher was a great movie. I liked it enough that I bought it on Blu Ray.

It's not available in the U.S.? Amazon has an unrated version and an R rated version. I keep meaning to see this film as I like both Cruise and Kubrick.

The North American Blu-ray version is the unrated cut. Although it claims to have both cuts, I don't believe the R rated cut is available.
