I love "The Fifth Element" (whenever it is replayed on TV and I come across it while channel surfing I will watch it) and was really looking forward to "Valerian", although the thread here did not give it much of an endorsement.

I did not get to see it at the movies, but as luck would have it the movie was available on my flight to Australia around Christmas (United - 787 International Business class) and I watched it on the way to Oz. On the way back I watched it again, and enjoyed it even more the second time.

While not quite as iconic as The Fifth Element (and a lot of that was due to Bruce Willis and Gary Oldham), Valerian was very rewarding.

Valerian was painful, but I’ll still pay to see whatever he does.

I'll pay to see anything that gets Mobius' brain in front of a yearning public.

But still...who ever expected Chris Tucker to become a more important radio icon than Seacrest! Points for that alone!

Leon and The Fifth Element are great. They are quite amazing on a projection home theater, I can assure anyone!!

Lucy is a fun watch and is reference quality for image and sound.

I've seen Nikita, of course, but it's due for a quality home video release. His other films are less well known and I've not seen them yet.

I recently saw both The Extraordinary Adventures of Adele Blanc-Sec and The Family - both a lot of fun. The Family is particularly hilarious if you like your humor black.

As far as the assault charges, right now, I choose to believe Luc!

No, not at all...LOL! CNN!...how typical of them...they suck.

The real world as it's supposed to be:
    INNOCENT until proven guilty...
we'll see...a very popular thing these day's...makes me sick how these monster accusers can crawl out from under their rock when they realize anyone famous is a new found cash cow...they need to be jailed when they are proven guilty of trying to destroy a life they can not make for themselves...this really strikes a nerve.

Leon is a masterpiece, and La Femme Nikita was the John Wick of its time. And Angel-A is a wonderful low budget film that revisits some of Besson's most common themes. I've come to really like The Fifth Element -- though when I first saw it in a theatre I didn't understand why it had a cartoon-color canvas and why it unabashedly copied the comic book story "So Beautiful So Dangerous".

But I always keep in a mind a couple problems with Besson. First, his tendency to tell stories about super-strong women comes across as a bit of a fetish - more immature than insightful, usually. And secondly I think with English being his second language he sometimes has trouble picking the best takes in comedic scenes. And he produces some really lame action movies that he does not himself direct.

Not surprised by the headlines. Haven't read the article yet. Hope it is not the Valerian actress.

I found the whole premise of the film poor. Lots of irritating characters & some terrible over the top acting.
