I teach middle-school social studies and English. Our art teacher has her students paint ceiling tiles having to do with the subject you teach. It's my turn, and she's having her students paint a portrait of Bob Dylan. There's room for one line of lyrics, maybe about a dozen words, tops.

Keeping in mind their age and the language arts/social studies slant of the theme, who has some good lyric suggestions for me?

The cynic in me wants to go with "I used to care, but things have changed..." but that's not sending the message I want!

"twenty years of schooling and they put you on the day shift" is probably not what you are looking for.

I was gonna give you a beautiful line from Tomorrow Is A Long Time, that you'd have to paraphrase given the limited space, and miss the full power of it in doing so, but then I realized the obvious choice:

"(someday), everything is gonna be different, when I paint that masterpiece."
