I'm looking at bidding on some stuff on Ebay... But how do I know if they're legit? I've been hearing how some rather unscrupulous ones have been stealing other sellers ratings and using them as their own (If that is really possible). If this is true is there any way to tell the legit from the crooks?
    Thanks guys

That's a new one on me. I don't really believe that that's possible though because you have your own account with your own password and it's fairly easy to see and post your feedback only in your own account. I know I'd definitely notice if my feedback were stolen.

Well, if they ask you to mail the check to Bulgaria, I'd be suspicious.
Seriously, you can get a feel for the seller by e-mail, and pay by paypal and you should be OK. If it's a real high ticket item, do further due diligence.

    Dave,
there have been several stories of highjacked accounts, probably through those bogus e-mails asking to verify your user ID and password.

Heh, probably why I've never been hi-jacked. I never open anything Ebay related unless it's an auctions end or a question response and I've never used PayPal. ;)
