If you might remember I lost at the last possible second my first ever ebay auction for Cat Steven's "Teaser and the Firecat" MFSL Gold CD.

Well there was another to bid open, albiet used, but I just won - and for roughly the same price for the disc I lost.

Here is what I just won:

Now the madness really starts - as I have bids going for a few other items.

I think that is why ebay is so successful. Even though you may bid the highest you want to pay when you get outbid it still pisses you off so you may even bid again just from a competitive nature. You get hooked fast.

    As Kenny Rogers said:
"you gotta know when to hold them, know when to throw them, know when to walk away, and know when to run"

The key is to bid on so many auctions that you don't care (or even expect) to win them all. ;)

Yeah, the great thing about ebay is you lose an auction (or worse yet, win) and the next day, you see it for a lower price.

Don't forget to ask for feedback. In the beginning, you need to bug the sellers a little bit so you can get your rating up.

...and if you really want it, snipe at the last 5 sec. If you win, great! If you don't, no regrets. You were willing to pay what you really wanted to. :)

    Hint for eBay Newbies

Get friendly with your refresh key. When your auction is winding down make sure you are logged onto eBay and watching your auction. After there is a minute left start hitting that refresh key coz that's when the snipers hit. You will get a current look at your auction.

Sometimes I automatically outbid myself with twenty seconds left. If nobody jumps in it costs you nothing and it has saved me before. Won't be long before you are setting an alarm and getting up at five in the morning to bid on an auction.

    Welcome to the madness.

    :edthumbs:
    Good Luck
    Cheers-

    Damián,
Because his first bid didn't out bid the current high bid.

Looks like he just kept bidding even after he already had bid higher than the previous bidder. Guess he really wanted it.
