For many years Mothra was considered too ethnic by the other Japanese creatures. Luckily, many of them have matured and no longer treat Mothra as an unwanted pest.

this was also how the "bro" felt after frank costanza deemed its name to be "too ethnic" while showing favoritism to the "manzierre".

This is the first official release. You might be thinking of Rodan. ; )

You are correct. No twins singing on Rodan. :D

I've been practically salivating over a proper release of "The H-Man" and "Battle In Outer Space" I'm praying that they keep the color cranked up like it used to be in the theater when I was a kid. That "Mysterians" DVD was an absolute disgrace. It looked worse than an old washed out Kojak episode on 'RTV'. I'm keeping my fingers crossed on this one...

I'm dying for a decent release of Daimajin or Maijin: Monster of Terror in the US. There was a shoddy 3 DVD release of the three Maijin flicks a few years ago with really scratchy non-anamorphic prints. I know that the first Maijin film is slated for Blu-Ray release in Japan and the screen shots I've seen look absolutely stunning. Unfortunately, no English subtitles: :(

It seems to me that it's always been available in some video format or another. God knows I must have more than a few on laser and various Toho box sets. Even Cinemax and the Sci-Fi channel used to run the international widescreen versions. It must have just slipped through the cracks.

If you're a Maijin fan, you might want to do google around a bit as there is a new Maijin movie/TV show on the way.

Oh, I get it. So I guess that means that you even find giant monsters sexually attractive?

I've owned that double-feature DVD for years... still waiting on a DVD release of Part 3, though. Apparently it was planned to be included in the "Toho Collection" that the OP was referring to, but they pulled it at the last minute. :sigh:

The remaining 3 films in the collection still make for a pretty nice DVD set, though.

I am quite pleased with that set. They not only are in their original Tohoscope aspect ratios but the Japanese as well as the US versions are included and two of them have commentaries.

It just doesn't get any cuter – or weirder – than the twins.

Actually it does get weirder. Would you believe that I own their albums and listen to them? Would you believe that they do covers of "Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport" and "Danke Schoen"?

The twins 'The Peanuts' are actually twins and still regarded as the greatest pop duo in the history of Japan.

The haunted song "Seinaru Izumi" (The Sacred Fountain) was composed by Akira Ifukube for "Mothra vs Godzilla". It was later quoted in the magnificent anime feature film ''Crayon Shin-chan: Otona Teikoku no Gyakushu" (Return of the Grown-ups Empire).
