If you could only have one regular LP featuring Mick Taylor, which one?

The live stuff sounds like a poor quality bootleg (imo). The performance is great though.

I am not saying I would pick Blues from Laurel Canyon as the answer to this thread, but it should definitely be considered.

Crusade for me. closely followed by Sticky.

The live stuff must be bonus tracks on the 2007 CD right? Bare Wires was a studio album.

I love MT playing. The thing is Mick & Keef did not let him shine enough, at least on studio records.

Laurel Canyon is no. 1 for me.Then SF and EOMS.

This would be interesting if stones releases were not part of the choices.

"Get Yer Ya Ya's Out." Before Mick T. started soloing non-stop. Here he plays for the song, even proving his worth on rhythm guitar. Worth it for "Sympathy For The Devil" alone.

Starting with Ya-Ya's he's on at least four essential Stones albums. But even if I could pick just one, it wouldn't necessarily be because of his contributions.

And what is this "Blues from Yanny Canyon"? :)

He was excellent on John Mayall’s Back To The Roots with a bunch of great players jamming out in the studio. His solo on Marriage Madness is jaw-droppingly gorgeous!

Great thread - I was going to say Blues for Laurel Canyon because of how surprisingly bad ass it is. Winter from Goats Head was eye opening to me as a kid and made me begin to reach for something beyond Hendrix on guitar.

I’ll tell you there is a big, bendy, bad mofo note he deals out during the solo in Tops on Tattoo You that I always love ... but sorry, I can’t pick just one.

Kinda surprised by all the Exile responses as I barely hear Mick on that record besides All Down the Line and Shine A Light. Same for Let It Bleed—he’s on Country Honk and Live with Me, playing parts Keith could have played. Even though I don’t like the songs that much, I would probably choose Goats Head Soup for his playing on Winter and 100 Years Ago. Or Sticky Fingers for the usual suspects—probably the best studio marriage of his skills with the Stones’ best songwriting.

Also, to the poster who said Taylor inspired Keith, I actually think it was MJ who wrote Taylor’s showcases—Sway, Moonlight Mile, Time Waits for No One, Winter. Keith’s songs tend to bury Taylor in a secondary role.

fmfxray373 Capitol LPs in the 70s were pretty good.

    Ya Ya's.

You realize how much he changed the group from the way they sounded with Brian when that guitar starts coming out of the left channel on Stray Cat Blues.
