If you could only listen to a 10 year span of music, and nothing else, what would it be?

    I'd choose 1965 to 1975.

I would miss Miles Davis "Kind of Blue", though.

That'd be my span as well.

    '63 - '73. I couldn't live without the early Beatles albums, so I'll sacrifice a few mid-70s albums.

1967 to 1977 (even though I would miss out on '79--gotta have '67)

It would be 1964 to 1974. There was great stuff I like before and after, but you can't have it all with that criteria.

    Haha, technically yes.

I could change it to 1966-1975, but for the sake of the thread, you can pick 75 to 65, 84 to 94, etc.

    I'll go 1977-87.

That way I pick up the classic years for Elvis Costello, Van Halen, Tom Petty, Pretenders, Police, Cars, U2, REM, Journey, Dire Straits, The Clash, and all the great new wave/post punk/college radio stuff of the 80s like Husker Du and The Replacements.

Plus my favorite era for metal, including Ozzy, Scorpions, Judas Priest, Def Leppard, Dio/Sabbath, and many others.

Plus early hip hop, electro funk, Prince, MJ and tons of good 80s R&B.

63-73 for me too but only by a slim margin over 56-66.

Btw, you can listen to anything from this time span; albums, singles, bootlegs ... all your radio stations would play the time span you choose only

Btw, not only is '67 to '77 the best period for music, but it covers movies beautifully as well.

I have thought about this often: 1957 to 1966. This would include the first rock and roll era, the beginning of hard bop, and the golden age of stereo classical recordings. It would also cover girl groups, surf, early garage, the British Invasion and the classic soul and mod eras, stopping just short of psychedelia. Losing 1967 would be hard, but not as hard as losing 1957.

Only one way to count them... majority of posters are actually claiming 11 years of music, use your fingers and toes if you don't believe me!
