If you could only listen to a 10 year span of music, and nothing else, what would it be?

    Me, I'd go 2015-2024.....

Though old music gets 90% of my listening time, in this theoretical situation I don't think I could be happy not being allowed to hear any new music.

If I had to listen to music from 1 deade only for the rest of my life, it would have to be from '81 to '91 - the Golden Years of Music.

I don't think there has been anything like this 10 year span that gave rise to The Abduction from the Seraglio, the Mass in C Minor, The Marriage of Figaro, Cosi Fan Tutte, Don Giovanni and The Magic Flute; plus the six quartets dedicated to Haydn and about 300 other works by Mizzy; add in Haydn's string quartets, his Paris symphony and Symphony 94 and numerous other pieces. If this was all I was allowed, I would be happy.

    Of course, I mean 1781 to 1791.

Wow a lot of agreement here. To be contrarian I might go 64-74 to catch all the original British invasion.

    Can't start later then '63, so '63 to '72.
At least that includes "For the Roses"

    I think you're being entirely unfair to 1771 to 1781 ;)

Another vote for '67-76, although there is a real tug of war between the 5 years on either side of that range that pull me back to the early Beatles, Dylan, Beach Boys, etc. and forward to the late 70s high school days and tons of great/formative (for me) music from that era.

No bad choice, but if I really had to choose (Thank God I DO NOT have to!) I would rather go with 1819 - 1828 covering the late Beethoven and Schubert (and some Rossini too)

1966 - 1976 I need Revolver and Presence (and Boston and Aerosmith Rocks and Hotel California)

1966-1975 (or 1965-1975 for the people taking the 11 year option)

Oh Yeah! Best period by far. Early psych, prog, avant garde and space rock. Everything I live for :)

I like my oldies/American Graffiti music, Bacharach, and early '60s modern jazz too much to give up on the early '60s.

It'd be hell though. Limiting your music to a ten year period is way too narrow. Those that choose to do this on purpose, I'll never understand. Even a 50-year window is too small: I couldn't imagine not being able to groove to Robert Johnson and Louis Armstrong just because I wanted to hear U2 or Tom Petty.

I'll have to go with the summer of 1957 till the summer of 1967, if we're going for a pure ten year span. :D

My favourite music period is from before I was born.

Technically 11 years but even the OP chose 11 years instead of 10!

    Let's see....I would still have

    Rubber Soul
    Kind of Blue
    Blue Rose
    Love Me or Leave Me
    Saxophone Colossus

    But no Hendrix :shake:
A choice of 20, or 21, years though would be a slice of cake [IMG]

64-74 though it could just as easily be 66-76
