I would describe them as heavy progressive rock or progressive hard rock. How would you describe them?

AC/DC. With Bon they had something that very few hard rock or metal bands possess: a sense of humor. Bon could make you laugh at his sly lyrics without losing any of the band's edge.

    Exactly what I thought...
"Rocks", "Toys In the Attic", and "Draw the Line" are hard rock classics.

Uriah Heep. Humble Pie. Or Jethro Tull as presented on the Paris '75 concert included in the Minstrel In The Gallery box. Am I on conceptual thin ice suggesting mid-'74 King Crimson? You know, Art Metal ...

    Failing that, '69-'71 Zeppelin.

    Ok seriously:

    Smashing Pumpkins

I do not really listen to much other Hard Rock beyond SP and RUSH(although bought a few AC-DC CDs(Back in Black & a Live album to fill in their other great songs) about 6-8 years ago. I also bought the Jethro Tull's 'Aqualung' Deluxe Hard Back Book after listening to that album a few times on YouTube. I plan to check out 'Thick as a Brick' and a few other albums eventually. Being a fan of Steven Wilson, since he Remastered and Remixed the JT catalog, I figured that band was worth exploring, now that their CDs were given the sound quality that SW provides(along with 5.1 Discs for whenever I get the gear to be able to play it).

Is Kansas considered Hard Rock or just Prog Rock? I bought their 2-CD Essential set about 2 years ago, just to have something different in my collection, and hearing 'Carry on My Wayward Son' a few times on the tv show, 'Supernatural'. I like most of their other songs I have heard on the Essential Collection.

I was going to explore Blue Oyster Cult and Deep Purple.
