I think Metallic K.O. is a strong contender for Iggy's " weird live album".
As much as you've gotta love the Iggster, I'm going with Lou Reed here for sheer influence and maybe a bit broader artistic scope as well. Two all-stars here for sure.

    Iggy.

Lou was WAY too mellow. Not only that, but anyone who's ever covered a Lou Reed song has improved upon it. The same can't be said of the Stooges.

    Iggy for me.

    I'm bored
I'm the chairman of the bored
    I'm a lengthy monologue
    I'm livin' like a dog
    I'm bored

I bore myself to sleep at night
I bore myself in broad daylight

    'Cause I'm bored
    Just another slimy bore
I'm free to bore my well-bought friends
And spend my cash until the end
    'Cause I'm bored
I'm bored, I'm the chairman of the board

    I'm sick
I'm sick of all my kicks
I'm sick of all the stiffs
I'm sick of all the dips
    I'm bored

I bore myself to sleep at night
I bore myself in broad daylight

    'Cause I'm bored
    I'm bored
    Just another dirty bore
All right doll-face, come on and bore me

    I'm sick
I'm sick of all my kicks
I'm sick of all the stiffs
I'm sick of all the dips
    I'm sick

I'm sick when I go to sleep at night
I'm still sick in the broad daylight

    'Cause I'm bored
    I'm bored
I'm the chairman of the bored

Ask me in 1975 and I'd say Iggy, but now I'd say Lou. For me, both had similar paths - very patchy good/bad records but in hindsight Lou's history was more consistent, his good records were mixed in along the bad whereas Iggy just got worse and worse after 1980 or so, just a bad cliche of what he once was like he could never figure out how to use what he had in a more mature setting.

I've seen both live a few times. Lou phoned it in every time. Iggy performed like it was his last day on Earth every time. Iggy for me.

Love them both. I just automatically choose Lou. Lou wrote the classics. Iggy is a great entertainer.

Love the Stooges plus his Berlin/ Bowie period but overall: Lou! Much more consistent. Better 80's albums. Plus: Metal! Machine! Music!

I would argue that the Stooges were the more influential band.

A forgotten album I think. This album was the last gasp of an old regime for Lou. He would move onto a new sound within a couple of albums to the comparably sober The Blue Mask. I've always considered this to be Lou's unheralded masterpiece. Reed’s old sparring partner Lester Bangs wrote, “With The Bells, more than in Street Hassle, perhaps even more than in his work with the Velvet Underground, Lou Reed achieves his oft-stated ambition—to become a great writer, in the literary sense.” This is perhaps the great lost Lou Reed album, and upon closer examination it could be said that this is as brave and interesting as any album in Lou's repertoire (see the amazing All Through the Night). An empathetic album, compassionate, displaying an emotional depth rarely seen from the artist and his characters. If The Bells is the forgotten Lou Reed album, the powerful and disturbing title track is his most unjustly forgotten song. Any true Lou Reed best-of should include the track The Bells, but unsurprisingly few of them do. Go Lou! I voted Iggy.

Lou; Iggy is not in the same building as a songwriter. That said, Kill City, The Idiot, Lust For Life and New Values are essential and Ig is a great performer.

Reminded me of this from Blazing Saddles:

    I'm Tired

Here I stand, the goddess of Desire

    Set men on fire

    I have this power

Morning noon and night it's drink and dancing

    Some quick romancing

    And then a shower

Stage door johnnies always surround me

    They always hound me

    With one request

Who can satisfy their lustful habits

    I'm not a rabbit

    I need some rest

    I'm tired

    Sick and tired of love

I've had my fill of love

    From below and above

    Tired, tired of being admired

    Tired of love uninspired

    Let's face it

    I'm tired

I've been with 1000's of men

    Again and again

    They promise the moon

    They always coming and going

    Going and coming

    And always too soon

    Right girls?

    I'm tired,

    Tired of playing the game

    Ain't it a crying shame

    I'm so tired

    God dammit I'm exhausted

Tired, tired of playing the game

    Ain't it a crying shame

    I'm so tired

    [Soldiers:]

    She's tired (She's tired)

Sick and tired of love (Give her a break)

She's had her fill of love (She's not a snake)

From bellow and above (Can't you see she's sick)

    Tired (She's bushed)

Tired of being admired (Let her alone)

Tired of love uninspired (Get off the phone)

    She's tired (Don't you know she's pooped)

I've been with 1000's of men

    Again and again

    They sing the same tune

They start with Byron and Shelly

    And jump on your belly

    And bust your ballon

    Aye!

Tired, tired of playing the game

    Ain't it a freakin' shame

    I'm so...

Let's face it everything below the waist is kapput!

    [Soldiers:]

    Tired!
