The live show on the Bleach anniversary and the Chad era tracks on the Nevermind anniversary CDs, to be exact.

If I didn't know better, I would of thought it was Dave on the live show. And I don't hear anything wrong with the drumming on the Smart Studio recordings.

I guess Chad's looser style wasn't what Kurt wanted in a drummer.

The word on the street was that Kurt didn't rate the man. His style or just fitting in with the band we will never know. Mind you , it worked out well. Im mean as far as modern drummers go , you will have to go a long way to beat Dave Grohl. A bit like Zeppelin with John Bonham ..... such was his talent that Nirvana based the band around him. Half of those songs on "Nevermind" & " In Utero" all you can hear is Dave.....

Chad was replaced because Kurt and Krist thought he wasn't very good.

  4. Dan Peters was the best drummer Nirvana had before Dave Grohl.

Nirvana's biographer even admitted that Grohl didn't change much from Chad Channing's drumming on the Nevermind demos.

    Or Dale Crover.
