Yep it was Atmos. They also had an event in theatres June 1 of last year with the mix. People's impressions tell me that it is a very different mix from the Blu Ray 5.1, and takes advantage of the soundscape much more effectively. Dolby states on their website's article for the event that film mixing engineer Chris Jenkins (who's won multiple Academy Awards for Best Sound) was mix supervisor, so perhaps having a third person on board for the mix, one who is from the "outside", allowed a mix to happen free from the arbitrary limits Giles Martin and Sam Okell put together for the 5.1.

I too question why the Atmos mix wasn't included on the Box Set. Especially since Blu Ray as a format supports Atmos. Sigh, maybe one day.

I attended the Atmos show of the Sgt Pepper's at the Northpark theater in Dallas. Glad I went! What an experience of audiophile sound all over the place, wow, unbelievable! Wished they could have included this blu-ray format of Atmos.
