IMDb eliminating its message boards

Maybe search for a site that caters for that genre and has a message board because that's all there is now.

 

Yeah, it's not like there's a very active discusion forum with a specific Visual Arts section or anything....

Oh wait... it's right here.

 

Music forum it can't be beat.
But ..the original IMDb message board for movies /tv related was something else.

 

The great thing about the IMDb was the huge amount of traffic it got, with the result that many casual web surfers would wander over to the message boards for their favorite shows or movies. You'd end up getting a lot of interesting posts that way: What it was like as a little kid staying up to watch The Untouchables, nostalgia about waiting in line for the latest William Castle gimmick flick, local horror movie TV hosts, etc...

 

The frustrating thing is you forget it's closed and you go looking to check out a movie, then you go to the message board for more information..and nada, whoosh gone.

 

I don't forget, but I look anyway. Kind of disbelief that it's not there, and wishful thinking that it'll magically reappear.

 

Which is the other side of the paperless info super highway. Someone flips a switch, all gone.

 

Yeah, that and file formats becoming obsolete are the two major setbacks of a so-called "paperless" society.

 

I already spend less time at IMDB than I used to. I guess that's a good thing......

 

Just seems incomplete now.

 

I just went on, very odd to see IMDb without it's message boards. Sadly I think raging a******* penchant for verbal diarrhea is what took them down. Very sad...

I loved those boards, you'd get stories and often the real person would show up and talk, I'll miss that.

 

Never seen " a real person " appear on the IMDb message boards.

I see IMDb have a new fancy rating number star thing.

 

Man, IMDB is just so boring now without the message boards. Wish that they never removed them in the first place and it would be more fun now if the message boards were still kept.

No more important info from a particular actor or actress but numbers are good! I don't think IMDb can survive this. What's the point?

 

They are just a extension of amazon.
With IMDb message board gone I prefer reading Amazon customers film DVD /blu ray reviews to IMDb user movie reviews.

 

+1 I go to IMDB and it seems pointless now. I really miss the msg boards.
I tried Moviechat but it aint the same

 

Miss it and also still miss the jump the shark site. That one got bought out and taken down so at least there was an excuse.
