Where to start? I've heard the name but never paid attention 'til I heard about her music app, Box of Tricks, today.
She also happened to record "Hide and Seek", the greatest song to ever accompany overdramatic shooting. :-D
Frou Frou-Details, great album, I never delved into her solo stuff though Some nice Backing on Blue October's-Congratulations
My wife adores her and she is immensely talented, but I know very little of her work. The Frou Frou album (a joint collaboration, I believe) is stunning. The solo song Hide and Seek is also amazing. That's all I know I'm afraid.
I love her albums "Speak For Yourself" and "Ellipse", though I never got as deeply into the Frou Frou album or her first solo album. She is a great live performer, solo with a big pile of keys and audio processing, and is a visually striking figure on stage - 6' tall and beanpole thin. I need to pick up her most recent album. It was supposed to be out earlier, got delayed and I forgot about it.
I like her. Jeff Beck guests on the song Goodnight and Go from her Speak for Yourself album. Before that, she did some guest vocals on Jeff's You Had It Coming album. Rollin and Tumblin, and Dirty Mind (just looked it up).
Back on the laptop. My wife and I saw her at Schuba's, our most beloved venue in Chicago. She had this pile of keyboards, samplers and effect processors - all music was played by her, not unlike when Tom Dolby toured a few years back. She really is a great songwriter, not dependent solely on sounds. This was wonderfully demonstrated during a tribute show by Ladies of the Canyon, one of whom did an acoustic piano version of Hide and Seek.
Immy is an awesome talent and such a charm to see live..she's humble yet confident, and her setup is so unique that for gear-heads or just good music fans, you'll enjoy her performances.
imogen heap is a force... pick up Sparks, her most recent, if any of it hits you, get all the rest and you'll love it. sparks is amazing on so many levels.. (Entanglement, Lifeline, telemiscommunications, are standout tracks)
She's been dropped by her label because her last album wasn't a blockbuster. So she's self-publishing, and interestingly she's exploring the cutting edge of technology - using "Blockchain" technology to enable the artist to make music available yet track distribution and receive payments. It's the same method used for Bitcoin.
Yep, she's in the latest 'Click' from BBC News. I'm not sure if anybody outside the UK can see this though... http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b06qjwmn
Immogen is incredibly talented, sincere and charismatic There is a dvd of the making of Ellipse - highly recommended I saw her tour about 5 years ago Incredible show
